You may have heard me talking about my redneck lathe. Anyways, here it is: I take a piece, and chuck it up in my 1/2" drill. I then use bastard files, and various grit sandpaper to turn the piece to the desired diameter. Today's project, was turning 3 bronze bushings down to fit inside of the spare tire carrier hinges.

Turned out great.

Ready to go

I'm hoping I can get it driveable in the next 3-4 weeks.

My problem is, is that I still do not have carb linkage. And even once I get my grubby hands on some, I'm still going to have to blast it and send it to plating, which will add considerable time I'm sure.

Never knew there was a FOOD side to the FJ40!!!

But seriously, dude...beautiful build!!!
You are inspiring me to get back on mine once it stops being 20° here!

I'm wearing t-shirts and Chacos here in Mississippi, and have been since the beginning of February.

Love the little bistro table in the middle of things!

Lol.

Yeah, that's what I set the body on inside the paint booth.

Installed the emergency brake assembly, along with defrost hoses. I did test fit new eBay gas pedal assembly, which will be bead blasted, and plated. I still need to wet sand the dash and polish.

Boom!!

I'm pleased with the way this is turning out.

That's what I call "slick"

On the steering column harness, what is used for that yellow casing viewable here where the column meets the dash? Is it the factory stuff just cleaned up, or a special thing you did?

Yellow 3m vinyl duct tape.

Super 35, I think.

I do small engines in my free time, so there's always plenty around to use.
