Friend dug a well in Jay, Vt…a lot of rock… within 40 feet they hit ledge and took 4 days to get thru …whatever he saved on pipe, he spent on drilling

Beautiful area… is this for storage or is there a well….as well (also)
Water in the Cariboo…they have three drilled wells, #1 was dry when drilled to 250’ but now gives them all their water, #2 has a pump and runs less than 5 min a day…basically dry, #3 dad told the guy to stop at 200’ deep but the driller swore he’d find water…he gave up at 550’ (only charged dad for the 200’) Any year with light snowpack results in water shortages by Aug/Sept.

So last year we dug a shallow well near the lake, hit running sand at 12’ and have 6’ of clear water in the well. That will pump up to the new cistern and then a smaller pump will feed the demands. Idea being that any sediment can settle out and the smaller pump can run on genset during power outage.

Having “endless” water will be a real game changer for them up there. 🤞🏻

Damn, that is a challenge. We’re accustomed to opening the valve and there’s water. Although we have a well, I have always been cognizant of its potentials. Just replaced the water pump 3 years ago after 44 years of faithful service. One of my filters is a spin down sediment filter using a 50 micron screen.. it has really done a great job of keeping the other filter free flowing

I open the valve on it once every 5-6 weeks and get a teaspoon of fine sand out in the flush

Had a guy roll up in this to our yard sale today

Living in NW Colorado water was always a concern. We had decent well but sediment would mess up our new washer/drywr and had to put fancy filter in it.

45 minutes to west, it was common for folks living there to have to get water in town and take home to put in their cistern.

Areas so dependent on snow melt it always seemed water access was a crap shoot.

Took my driver’s test in a 1976 F150 long wheelbase. Had to parallel park that puppy between two cars. No problem.

Probably couldn’t do it as well today. 😂

When I was flying frequently I would pride myself on landing on the centerline no matter what the conditions. Now it seems I can’t park between two dang lines some days, of course mostly when wife in car.
