I needed flat windshield glass years ago for my 62 VW bus…the local shop just cut it for me, side windows are a different story though as tempered I believe.
oh man if you get chip going about old VW you will never hear the end. he used to run nitrous beetles back in the 80s and still has a massive hoard of VW junk.

(( unrelated link. this is chip: ))

Glass Seekers was the company my glass guy told me to call. Also, I looked at the two windshields that got shipped to me, made in China, not Ohio where the factory is. Very odd, but I bet all of the glass installers that also sell windshields buy them from the one producer.

flat panes? you could ask Chip Quinn of Hot Rod Louvre Company in Phoenix, he knows everyone. hes a good friend of mine, and when I need weird oddities in american cars he knows all the right folks
That's wild, my wagon came from the Phoenix area and originally had a 350 Chevy with perfect louvers in the hood. I kept the hood because the louvers looked so good and did a great job of cooling down the engine bay. Not a far stretch to believe your buddy did the louvers. Hotrod guys I know have all said what a good job whoever did them was.

Just to add a little to this, my new windshields have "made in china" on them, where as the one in the wagon doesn't. When we get a new one in, I'll see if there is any difference between the old and new. I guess as long as we can still get them, but I'd have one in stock because you know the time is coming for that rock crack.

Maybe I'm wrong, but better do your own research. I broke another windshield going to the Pig Party and called my glass guy for a new one. They called back and said (couldn't find one from the supplier). I started doing some digging and called, to my knowledge, the only manufacturer of our windshields. It's Fuyao Glass in Ohio, a Japanese company here in the USA. I made multiple calls to them, different departments and each time it went to security and was told to leave a message. I did a search on Google search bot whatever and came across some articles about the FBI raiding the place and the Japanese weren't happy with American workers, lazy and all. It sounds like the plant was/is shut down. I found a glass company on the interwebs selling them, so I ordered two and had them shipped. I don't know if they have much of an inventory, but I would check with your glass guy if you need one soon.

Windshield # FW-326 FUYAO Glass Co.
i have 2 chips in mine from PP, will leave till they start traveling

Safelite was supposed to come to my home on the 10th and replace mine through my insurance. They emailed me saying they don't do any vehicles over 30 years.

Insurance gave me a local glass co that they work with. They found a supplier some where on our side of the world that has 5 in stock. He ordered 2 to make sure at least one has no scratches and or one breaks. They are supposed to arrive in town Thursday (tomorrow). If so, I will find out where they came from and pass it on as well.

I'm frequently in Ventura and have had friends send pics of your rig in Ojai. :-)

Just got my 71 back from the windshield replacement shop
The glass was supplied by a national supplier FYG. $169 to the windshield installer. He got it in 3 days. Ordered two to make sure at least one was not scratched. Sent the other on back.
My damaged one was also FYG

My insurance picked up the tab no deductible
