@riderjgs Oh that is the next chapter of the story I am not in a hurry to read

We keep about 3-4 full cords of wood ready to go… no longer a necessity. It’s easier to tell Alexa to turn up the heat than carry wood.
That doesn’t mean I can ignore the stuff that falls in the woods so I keep cleaning up, cutting and stacking

Just turned 79, headed toward 80 next year Used to say 70 was the new 60. Now thinking 80 may be the new 90. As one of my favorite singer-song writers James McMurtry (son of Larry) says..."It's a damn short movie. How'd we ever get here?" Still vertical at least and looking at the grass from the right side.
Saw James Taylor last week, one of my favorites. Voice slipping a little from when we saw him a couple times 15 years ago but still an incredible performer.

He surrounds himself with some incredible musicians.

Hmmm. Never heard of James. If he’s anything like his dad, he’ll be fantastic! I’ll check him out.
Everything he does is worth listening to. Check out "Just us Kids" and "Ruby and Carlos." Great storyteller like his dad. @greenbeast might appreciate "Choctaw Bingo."

Tends to happen to performers our age. Saw Stephen Stills and Judy Collins together a few years ago. Loved it but the range of their voices had certainly diminished. Even Prine in his later years, though I thought that added some gravitas to his songs (as if it was needed).

Anyone have experience with Harbor freight winches?

To be more specific the Badlands brand?
Is what I'm running. Might be 3 years old, don't use it a lot but no problem so far.

Anyone know any cruiser folks up near kallispell or Missoula? Wife working deal on a 62 and would love to have reputable mudder take a look.

62 located on Columbia falls, Montana.

That’s who I was thinking of but departing Denver so didn’t want to reach out yet. Tulsa bound!

I would suggest Dave, @mudandrock as he is right in the neighborhood
I'm 3+ hours away

Seen that setting multiple times and love the waves at sunrise and sunset.

If I could have that along with the country sounds of the whipper wills and owls at night, coyotes and turkeys gobbling in the spring I would be set. I’m a sucker for sunrise in the pastures!

It’s pretty cool how Mother Nature can share so many beautiful images.

We had 3 beautiful trees in front yard of our future home. This summer one died pretty quickly. It was an oldie and well outside of my abilities to cut down. In weird way I spent last week sitting under it watching dogs and reading. No telling the stories it could tell if able.

Guys cut it down yesterday (pretty sad sight)) and today Kim and I working to make it manageable for moving and making burn piles.

Keeping main trunk to have some things made and put in our house.

Arborist estimated it to be 120 years old.

That's a shame, I hate losing the old ones. Looks like a red oak and rot right up the middle. I was going to suggest a fireplace mantle, but with that rot in the middle and the punky ( dead ) wood around the outside, you might have to think of something smaller. Oaks trees are so much more majestic when they grow in a field verses in the woods. The limbs spread out so wide to show off their beauty, that they never could, fighting for real-estate in the woods. On a positive note, he'll serve you one last time with wonderful heat in your new fireplace. What do they say, something like a tree heats you many times, cutting it, stacking it, hauling in the house, burning it and hauling out the ashes. Enjoy the process.
