Subscribed! One cool build, I've always wanted to swap a 62 body on the 80 frame

Did you take many pics of the frame mods? Keen to see/hear how you went about it. Ive seen wagoneers thread where he took however many inches from the chassis and then just pulled the rear chassis legs together and welded her up.

I will need to look to see if I have some pictures. I removed the 4.7 inches from the section of frame that is parallel by removing the weld from the front section of the LCA mount then plating it both inside and outside then rewelding the LCA mounts to the frame. very clean looking and done on a frame jig to make sure it was dead on square.

Been a slow process with other projects that keep getting in the way. Still collecting parts, have almost everything now.
40th seats mounted - seats will be recovered in dark brown leather with 62 cloth centers but the original leather is in good shape)
Switched to 1990 brown cloth and retaining power windows and locks
Cleaned up the heat shields ( you can see the frame modification point at the LCA mounting bracket)
Using stock exhaust brackets and figuring out the routing.

Nice work Jeff. Love it.

Getting it ready for paint and final assembly, pulled all trim, bumpers and interior. Should be painting and power coating chassis and drivetrain over the winter.

Can’t wait to see this in person. Happy Thanksgiving Jeff

Sweet build Jeff. Glad I found your thread. Is that the dash you were needing picked up? Wish I would have seen the message soonerand helped get it to you when I was out west.

Are you bringing it to SAS3?

Great job! Looks awesome. One thing I miss about being in an 80, I used to love that 1FZ! It’s very smooth

Why did you change the interior to 80 specific parts, Would it be too hard to retain the stock looking 60 dash, glove box, etc...?

One of those Toyota superchargers they use to sell for the 1FZ FE would make it go nice.

Pat, that’s just my junk dash for mock up. I have a nice dash waiting to go in.

I’m retaining 100% 80 series wiring including Cruz, automatic climate control, power locks, power windows, power mirrors and power seats. The 80 series AC is also much better than 60s.

Just much easier to use the 80 dash. Plus 60 dashes and bezels are getting much harder to find in excellent shape.

I have my eye on the Turbo thread , I could see adding one down the line once I get her back on the road.

Pulled from it’s resting place after 2 years, heading off to get painted and final assembly.

Need help in choosing a color, 1987 FJ 60 tan (464?) or 2018 Quicksand

Id vote for the tan. I guess your off the cement gray from the new Tundra your driving?
