I have been (and still am) looking for a genuine Toyota rear axle vent, it is the longer one that also holds the brake line tee to the axle also. I was also wanting to extend the vent instead of having it right on top of the axle, so I was also looking for one of these:

No luck so far, so I started looking at other options. The Dodge and ford trucks had a similar fitting, only the threads are 7/16-20, not M10x1.25.

These two threads are very nearly the same pitch (1.27 and 1.25) but 7/16 is a few hundredths larger in diameter than the 10mm. So I bought the bronco one, cut off the unthreaded portion and ran the m10x1.25 die down over the threads. It didn't turn out too bad:

The length under the nut part is about 1". Thought I had hit a home run, but alas it wasn't to be, the shoulder part is too fat to fit thru the brake tee so I will have to grind/file/turn the shoulder down or drill out the tee, neither option is good. If anyone has a shade tree mechanic method of turning something down without a lathe please share. I want this to be a simple project.

I have one of these diesel compression fittings that fits in a glow plug hole that has the correct threads, so that is my next try this weekend. It is also about 1" from the nut to the bottom of the threads.

I am looking for the same vent barb I wish I have get one from Mark last year ...He doesn"t have any no more....Are you in Southport,NC?I am in Shallotte...Maybe we can see each other 40...Let me know ...Mike

I have searched as well with no luck. Some drill and tap for the ones used for newer vehicles. I have pulled the cap on my split case to run the vent up on the 80. I need to do the same on the 40 axles as it's on my short list before my Colorado trip.

I just rip the cap off and presse fitt a small metal pipe in the stock vent and use a rubber hose to vent higher

Good idea, I could graft a barb to the top of the existing fitting. The cap has been missing for years so that works.

Once you pry the vent cap off (and remove the spring and rubber disk), 3/8" fuel line slides right on the remaining stub, and you can retain it with a hose clamp. No extra parts needed.

Just to close this out, the bronco vent is made of fairly soft steel so about 20 minutes with a file and it was down to 0.4" diameter, fit right in the brake tee no problem.

You'd think that Marks Off Road (who has 5 to 50 of everything Landcruiser) would have some left over 90404-10013's in stock?????

I never said I didn’t.😉

I am slowly acquiring some metric tap and dies - my luck as soon as I get a good assortment they will go to the "new world standard" that will be entirely different to everything made so far thus requiring all new tools.
