AC compressor fried itself

Good thing I was going to get a new one for the new motor

You mean the clutch fried? What happened?

I'm not sure exactly, haven't had time to pull it and examine. Symptoms were screeching, aroma of burnt rubber, and smoke coming form the compressor. all symptoms went away when I turned the AC off.

No big deal, who needs AC in in Florida August right?

I bet the compressor locked up. Did it give you any warning? Stop blowing cold? Usually it's low oil or Freon, or the bearing goes. Screams like no tomorrow.

Good thing you have a new one on order.

Low freon most likely, hasn't blown cold since a few months ago, hadn't been that concerned though.

Decided that it's unlikely I'll be rock-crawling in the next year, and the tires on both my old stock rims (31 All Terrains), and on my Tacoma steelies (stock s***) were really thin, so I bought a set of reasonable Falken Rocky Mountain ATS in 31x10.5 for the stock steelies, it means that for off-road if can go a little crazy, like beadlocked Swampers.

Tomorrow morning I'm putting the new AC compressor in, and grinding the rusty 2x4 for my rear bumper.

Well that wasn't as hard as I expected it to be, did have to assume some interesting positions though.
AC blows ice cold now.

Note you have to swap the top plate from the original compressor to the new one.

Current bumper design, frame mount holes aren't accurate, I still need to measure them.

Yeah I wanted to try some metallic paint I saw at Home Depot. It's not perfect, I didn't like the black either. I'm going to get an original chrome one off a part-out some time.

Um can someone post a picture of an FJ60 clutch slave mounted on the bellhousing, preferably 2F? I can't figure out the orientation of it. I'll start a new thread if this doesn't get response.

It only goes on one way. Piston bore is above the bolt holes.

My voltage regulator is shot so I bought a new alternator since it includes a new regulator, and I was going to buy a new one for the new engine anyways. I love the feel of new Toyota parts!

I also got my bumper mounted. It's stout.

I'm working on the tire carrier now, should have that done soon.

Great looking truck and looking forward to your build. I personally would not paint the engine white. You will regret it.
