It's about to become a whole lot better - as soon as I'm able to throw a ton money at it.

Pedal bucket swap completed, it was a huge pain the ass. At least I got to drive a newish 6-speed Tacoma for a whole week because my 62 was down, I strangely got everywhere 10 minutes early.

I broke the yoke that connects the steering main shaft to the intermediate shaft, anyone done this before?

Luckily Georg (who rocks socks off) had one. Honestly this rig would be scrap by now if it wasn't for him.

How in the world did you do that? Was it stuck (rusted) onto the steering box and you were trying to pry it open?

I took the bolt out, hammered a pry bar in the opening which took the stress of the splines, then hammered it off. I actually held it in one piece in my hand for 5 seconds, then it just split.

It was also a real challenge to reattach the new yoke to the intermediate shaft in the car. Here was my solution:

Genius if I do say so myself.

Moral of the story: don't desperate the main and intermediate shafts inside the car.

Also, just installed LEDs on the lift.

No wonder it broke

That the steering shaft is supposed to easily slide onto the intermediate shaft of the steering box. Cleaning / lubing the splines would have been much better than what you've pictured. I wouldn't be surprised if you damaged the steering box by forcing the steering shaft on like that.

Technically speaking it is

Umm… Love the Valle Crucis front plate! We have a cabin there about four miles from Mast. Up there A lot!
Love the Cruiser too!

Yeah we had an investment house there a long time ago, I think I spent one night in it. There's a photo on the first page of this thread of my dad clearing the road to it. The alternator died in Valle Crucis as well.

So I bolted this 1/4" plate here to start a winch plate. Spent around 3 hours drilling the holes with a cordless. Then a numbskull
rear-ended me at a stoplight hard enough to push me into a Sequoia, bending my winch plate! At least no one was hurt...

...besides my rear bumper, which has suffered way too much abuse.

Let's find out how much a new OEM bumper and labor is at the dealership....

Good thing I didn't put a winch on there...

Also, got some small parts from Beno, sway bar bracket and some window channel runs. No more big rattles anymore!

Finally feels like it doesn't want to completely fall apart every time I drive it. And I really can't wait to get started on the engine/transmission swap, machine shop needs to hurry up!
