Shoot sorry to hear this. I hope the break does you good!

I for one would hate to see the Turk leave us, I hope he stays around. He is always so pleasant to deal with, I never have to speak. All the part numbers just come rattling off! @red66toy thank you for the pictures and information, I have ordered from @beno and the install will be forthcoming for the window felts. Love the utilitarian look. By chance, have you done your door cards yet? I cut out mdf to match and am planning on marine vinyl up top with some brown carpet below for my boots to push on. Any ideas that are better than mine will be completely copied (with credit of course) :)

Hey, glad you are pressing forward with this! I haven't gotten to the door cards yet. I got sucked into doing major work on brakes, steering and cooling system. Interior is the next frontier on my cruiser. Door cards will make a good winter project! Looking forward to seeing your pics!

I found some non US minitruck belt moldings that will work. Also, some careful work with a small unibit turns the small holes into a cluster of 3 small holes that blend into one and other,(looks like a clover) allowing use of an unmodified clip...

I'm almost at that point these days... Amazingly, it's ok for other people to make money but for the person providing you with information and knowledge it's somehow less ok. That hypocrisy is why I am out shortly.

when did you go full on commy?

Hello everyone,
Thought I would start a separate thread on this subject so it can be easily found in the future.

So as some of you may know, some non-US 60-series had partial door cards with exposed paint at the top. I personally love this more utilitarian look as it fits better with the cruiser as a whole. Also the full door cards have the vinyl top which crack with age (as mine are).

There are three options to achieve this partial door card look:
1. You can have some sort of magical powers and locate the discontinued OEM inner door felts used on the non-US 60-series.

2. You can actually use the US inner door window felts made for the full door cards and adapt them to work without it. It is described in these threads: Pic needed...OEM door panel with paint at top exposed and in this one (Post 128)- window felt replacement

3. You can use the inner door window felts from a 75- or 79- series LC! They came from the factory with the partial door cards and use a similar setup:

I should note here that credit for this idea goes to @goldchaser who used this trick in his thread ( Hj61 sahara overhaul ). He was kind enough to tell me he got his felts from a 75-series LC. Furthermore, @boozewz recently demonstrated, in his amazing thread ( 1989 GCC Spec FJ62 G Trim ), that the inner window felts from a 79-series also work! He also showed that they can be easily glued in as well. EDIT: The 79 series felts are not available in the US market.

A thank you to @beno , I ordered my inner window felts for a 75-series LC from him (I am sure he knows the part numbers off the top of his head). A note of caution, when ordering the inner window felts, make sure you order them for the 75/79-series without the wing windows. The wing-windowed versions are too short to make this work.

Here is the method I used to attach them:
So once you get the inner window felts you will notice they are too long so you have to trim them and they come with thick clips, which are not compatible with the round holes on the inner door:

To make the clips fit into the round holes, I ground down the clip barbs to fit in the round holes (about 4.5mm wide):

It snapped in very nicely and securely:

Here it is mounted:

To finish off the look you can order the lock knob trim pieces, as shown by @DanS HJ-45 in his thread (post 412) Who likes addition? (FJ-60 + 1HZ)

Thanks, hopefully this was helpful!
Olde Thread Resurrection...

I'm replacing my door cards with units from Australian Door Cards and need to install new inner window felts with clips. Searching through other posts, the inner felts for front doors appear to be available, 68170-90A01. Several posts have suggested cutting down the front felts for the rears as those are NLA.

For the clips, others have suggested 68211-90K00, which are plastic, not metal as the clips in this post.

Two questions:
- Will the inner felts, 68170-90A01, work for a FJ62, or should I try and source units from a FJ75 as suggested in the original post?
- Will the plastic clips, 68211-90K00, work in this application, or should I try and source the metal clips shown above and file them down? (note: It looks like SOR has both the metal and plastic clips available)

Thank you!

Hey! Thanks for the thread bump!
Excellent questions and I am not 100% sure. I would LOVE to get the plastic clips to work. I wasn't a huge fan of the metal but it does work. Let me go back and see if the plastics could work but I believe there was a weird issue with how it grips onto the felts. I think I have some of those clips to see if they would work. The good thing about the 70 series version is that they were made for this type of application (no door card) so it has a rubber lip that sits nicely on the door sill.

Great, thanks for the quick pic! Definitely will order the metal clips and file them down.
I am going to see if I can locate a plastic alternative. But metal may be the only way.

So to make sure I'm understanding things properly here (I'm putting the Australian Door Cards in my 60), I can either go with the factory 60 window felts and replace the clips with metal ones (does anyone have this PN?) or I can go with 70/75 series felts that come with the metal clips already on them (any recollection of those PN's)?

Thanks all!
Clark

I have the aus door cards. I used the plastic clips on the felts…. All you have to do is drill the holes out slightly. Very easy, a small step bit works well. Once you enlarge the hole for the plastic bit the weatherstrip will lock tightly down in. The grinding the metal tabs will keep the weatherstrip kind of up high and loose, I prefer the plastic ones

Ok, that sounds easier than changing out all the clips. I got exterior felts and lower front runs from CityRacer, but he doesn't carry that interior felts or window runs that I can see. Ordering those from one of the online dealers.

Thanks!
Clark

@red66toy Did you ever end up cutting down your OEM door cards to end below the body metal strip at the inside top of the door?
