Just installed exterior strips....as previously stated...Great Upgrade!
Interior strips install question. The strips have small metal tabs. Are those tabs supposed to be pulled out and pushed in along the top inner small holes?

On my FJ 62, front doors the inner felt tabs are bent out and then slid through the slits on door panel and bent over. The pic you show is that the door itself?

Yes the pic is a view from outside looking into the truck and shows the holes where the inner felt strip should fit. The question arose because the new outside felt has a very secure plastic tab snap in system while the interior seems to be lacking.

St. Joe is correct. you just bend those metal tabs out, insert onto to your door panel that's removed and bend them back over. Then insert the panel back into the door (which can be a PITA as I'm finding out. The plastic tabs and the arm rest hold the door panel and wipes in place (as well as the fixed window gasket or the rear doors. Trust me, once their in they won't be moving.

They have metal tabs and you run them through the holes in the doors. There are white plastic clips as well, but I just used the metal tabs made into the belt assy.

These holes..

Hope it's not a bother. I used the metal tabs to secure the inner weatherstrip on the door but it easily bent out of shape. How did you do it?

I read this somewhere, "If there is a will, there is a way". Got the inner felt weatherstrip installed. I first bent the tabs to a half round shape, (see pics) in order for it to fit the round hole. Once you got all the tabs aligned in the holes, press and hold while you bend the tabs from the inside of the door. Hard to bend but "Nothing good comes easy". :bounce::bounce2:

When you replace the window channel in the front doors, be sure and NOT cut it where the old one was cut. I ran the long strip (part number 30 in the diagram in post 21) as far down the front of the door as it would go, and cut the short piece (part number 34 in the diagram) to fit. That way, the joint is way down in the door, and not up where you can see it and water can be channeled in.

Old thread resurrected for the 14th time. So the part in the diagram #30 needs cut to fit? Seems very un-toyota-like to not get perfect fit parts.

Ok resurrecting this thread yet again... I have a small spot of rust that is forming just under the chrome strip on the passenger side. Can the chrome (lower) strips pop off and on (e.g. are the reuseable?).....
Want to get this taken care of ASAP before the weather shows up. Also need to get all the parts for the drivers door as that is something that has needed to be fixed since I got the truck. Apparently someone tried to break into the truck at one point by wedging a screwdriver between the glass and frame, eventually they just shoved the screwdriver into the lock and got it to work.

Can you post a couple more pics of your doors from both inside and outside? I'd like to see the whole effect. TY

bumping this back up...does anyone have a source for the clips- either metal or plastic that are used on the outer felts? I need about 20 of them...

@beno @mel lowe @OSS Wondering if these guys can chime in... currently in the process of sanding down my spare door and will need to transfer everything over other than the couple things (like Upper window channel, #30 above). Think this maybe should be a sticky?

See the main one I need is the 68141 upper channel run for my drivers door as you can tell at some point before I owned it that someone attempted to break in by shoving a screwdriver between it and the window glass and folded the run over. Then they went after the lock with the same screwdriver but left in a hurry.

68141 "run" is still available.
If you click on the drawing number (PNC number next to the part) a red box will pop showing the part number- then you can verify availability & price at your favorite vendor.

Oh yeah already have a quote from Onur on that and a few other things, just need to order is all.

Can I please have CDan's contact info.
Thanks,

I have an fj62 and ordered those parts from Dan. The outer felt strips come with the chrome piece that runs at the base of the window along the top of the door. You can't buy them separate, and they are close to $100 each! After discussing my options with Dan, I ultimately ordered a different part number he had that was an fj60 number and mucho cheaper. I think they must be for maybe an older fj60 that didn't come with the chrome strips along the bottom of the window. I took the chrome pieces off, and the outer felt strips snap into holes that were already in the door instead of fastening to the chrome strip. They worked great, but you won't have the chrome strips anymore, and will have to deal with any issues you find under the strips. In my case I am repainting, so it is not an issue. Anyway, if you choose to go the route I went, here are the part numbers I ordered:

Inside weatherstripping
68170-90A01 2ea.
68190-90A01 2ea.

Outside weatherstripping
68160-90A02
68210-90A02
68230-90A01
I lost the part number for the fourth one, but you should get close enough with these for Dan to figure out what the last one is.
