Where do I begin... I love this FJ62 and frankly I spared no expense because of sentimental value since it was the exact same make/model/year as the rig that my family owned for 10 years and that started this disease/love for Land Cruisers. That being said, all I can say is that this one is dialed. I never in a million years foresaw all of the small things that would go into bringing something back to OEM+, but I know now and have a full spreadsheet of parts/cost for everything. Parting ways with my FJ60. I bought this truck with the intention of finishing the build and just don’t have the time. The LS swap was already done (approx. 90k on the motor) and I have since then replaced the carpet (spray heat shield/ noise dampener underneath). Put on a shackle reverse kit in the front, ARB Bull Bar, and dual battery set up. I started to prep the truck for some body work but never really got around to getting to a shop to be completed. It needs lower degree caster shims after the shackle kit, extended front drive shaft since it lifted the truck a few inches, and a set of rear shackles to level out the truck. Have loved having this 60 series. Picked her up from a close friend who stored her for 5 years on top of the previous owners 5 years. She was taken out for drives every couple of months to keep fluids and seals good. Since I got her she’s been thoughtfully inspected professionally. Wiring in the engine bay has been mostly replaced along with a new clutch and master brake cylinder. Additionally we put in a new water pump and refreshed the belts. It has some interesting provenance:
1990s seem to be fairly rare since they only sold for a short time before the 1991 FJ80 started.
I asked Toyota USA, this one in particular left the factory on 12/31/1989. According to IH8MUD lore, this is the last day of FJ62 production. I can only find a few VINs on Toyota’s lookup tool that are higher than this one, making it one of the very last USDM FJ62s produced.
It was purchased in Georgia in 1990 and then driven to Boulder a few months later, where it has remained ever since.

Recently have replaced the RMS, throw out bearing, battery ( optima yellow top ), rebuilt carb, engine oil/transmission oil and probably a few other things I can't think of at the moment.
Overall, she runs and drives and is mechanically complete and solid. I've chased out electric gremlins and a few other issues I had over the year. It's really a great rig. Interior is o-k but far from perfect.
The biggest issues are the rear quarter panels, there's no sugar coating that's fact that they're in need of some love. I am attaching pictures I took about a year ago when I initially thought about selling but never did. But, as with all projects...

Hey everbody looking to sell my pristine 1989 FJ62 that I've had for a year and half now. It is ridiculously clean and I've put a ton time and new Toyota parts into making the old girl like new. It is fully sorted and ready to be enjoyed. I am the third owner. It has been a southern vehicle its' whole life. The original owner was a little ole lady that had it serviced exclusively through Toyota up until she sold it in 2012. Then a retired gentleman in Atlanta owned it until my purchase. From what I'm told it was always garaged its' whole life and I believe the condition reflects that. Not a speck of rust anywhere on the body or frame. It did have a glass out repaint in 2018 by the PO and the pictures show it is a flawless paint...

This 1987 TLC with a 12HT turbo diesel is in beautiful shape. It's a JDM RHD vehicle with less than 169 000 miles (271000 kms). It has a 2.5" lift and 33"×12.5" tires with a full sized matching spare. The underside is strong and has only some surface rust (as a result of my moving to coastal Florida). After putting less than a hundred miles in the past couple years, the time has come to sell our 1988 FJ-62 Land Cruiser. We've had it for close to a decade, spent many miles exploring and enjoying it, just with a new little one see ourselves driving our 80 and don't have the time to really make the 62 shine like it deserves.
Currently has 232,864 miles and clean title in our names.
Body is in decent shape for an almost 40 year old vehicle, typical dings and paint wear.
