Hi All-

I'm going to reproduce the 13B-T housing, OEM # 16331-58030. This will be the fourth Toyota housing I've made.

Any watch outs? Any variations from year to year? EPC says no, but I thought I'd ask the group.

Any chance you will make the 3B housing which points to the left of the vehicle? Useful for 3B owners and 15B conversions.

If there is a need, then yes. It's been a while since I've owned a 3B (1985 BJ70 from Canada).

Assuming you are referring to the upper 16331-58010?
Sorry, I should have posted the number:

Mine looks like the one in the first pic but with less corrosion damage.

I would be interested in one, just to have it around.

For those who are interested: The German engineering approach...

Currently 11 videos in the series to evaluate options and costs to reproduce the 3B left-facing thermostat housing.

Not sure what to make of this. Being German and having studied in Germany I know the Germans make really awesome stuff and at times over complicate matters, case and point an 11 part video on a 3B housing.

Is the moral of the story that someone is making the 3B upper?

If you need a 3B to scan, I can send one.

Well, this story developed from a thread in Buschtaxi.net, where someone had a badly corroded piece, experienced all those vendors who had it listed but actually hadn't it, and couldn't find a replacement. He opted for the still available part facing right and rerouted the hose, which really isn't optimal, but what would he do?
Then many 'experts' came in, suggesting various ideas to rebuild that left facing part, saying it would be easy...
This engineer took up and investigated those claims.
But true: Nobody is making this part, still (as per my knowledge).
(BTW, that guy has a series on the LSPV adjustment, too. The only video I ever found where this FSM approach in all its complexity is demonstrated)
Cheers Ralf
(Sorry for derailing this thread; back to 13BT)

Hello,

It may seem that the guy overcomplicated things but that is not the case.

It takes some effort to design a part that works, even if it is a reproduction one. Tolerances, stresses and related issues. Certainly not a two beer job.
