I bought this cruiser last year from the original owner in dallas, tx. It has 297,550 on it. His dad bought it new from a dealer ship and arizona and drove it back to dallas wear it has lived for the past 32 years. It sat for the last 10 years before I bought it. So it was not running at the time. I pulled the fuel tank, had it professioally restored by renu, put in a new fuel pump, changed the oil, and it started right up. There is no real rust that I have found as you will see in the pictures. It runs, but will need some work to be a daily driver. Needs new tires. Has some small patches of body rust through that can be seen in pics. Frame is solid and has some surface rust.
Engine turns on and idles perfectly. Once warmed up it seems to run rough when given throttle.

This converted 1985 FJ60 is a custom fabricated truck originally for the movie Triple Frontier with Ben Affleck. Never used in the movie, but later used on “Mayans” and “Criminal Minds”.
The truck has just over 153k miles with a nice running 3.9L factory engine and 4-speed manual transmission. Carb was just rebuilt. New tires, brakes, and driveshaft. The power windows are slow and will need repair soon.

I have decided to sell my 1988 FJ62. The truck isn’t running at this time. I picked this up in South Texas a few years ago and had a lot of fun with it here in Austin. I drove it a ton and had always planned to do a restoration or heavy cleanup on it at some point. I drove it out to my farm and parked in the barn and last year my brother took it to the deer lease. Unfortunately he left it sitting out and some critters got into the engine bay and made a nest and chewed through some wires. It’s the old story of it ran great when I parked it and now it doesn’t run. I don’t know if it needs a new harness or if someone with wiring knowledge could repair the existing wiring. Medium OME lift, add a leaf to heavy in rear.

Replaced: alternator, starter, fan clutch, charged AC (still leaks down but blows cold when charged), new belts and upper hose.
2018: New 02 sensors.
Passes Colorado emissions.

This is a 1990 FJ 62 I acquired last year. The truck was purchased new in SLC at Larry Miller Toyota and later transferred ownership to a member of the original purchasers family who unfortunately was involved in an accident with the vehicle.
My initial plan was to have the truck restored back to factory spec given its original condition and low mileage. It is a desirable color, has a near perfect interior, runs and drives great even with the existing damage. The large majority of the paint is in great shape indicative of a truck with 95k miles.

It's with a heavy heart that it's time for my family to part ways with Babe the big blue ox. She has treated us well but since our daughter was born has not been getting the attention she deserves. This has been an amazing Colorado rig for us getting me and my family on some great trips, floating rivers, catching fish, hiking, camping, hunting and generally loving what the mountains have to offer. Unfortunately I don't have the time to keep up with what she needs though so its time to pass her on to the next adventurer!
