How do these lower control arms look to you? Took my 2020 HE to the dealership earlier today and replacement of both was on the very long list of items that needs be addressed. They took a very "conservative" approach, so checking the math on some of their decisionmaking. I am not having any issues with noise, bumps, etc. I do have some front tire exterior wear, but unclear whether this is related to UCAs.

I’m assuming you’re talking about the ball joint where it looks like it’s seeping grease?

What’s your mileage?

I’ve asked this forum about this as well on my 2021 and the consensus was that it’s normal.

Yes and thank you. 2020 HE with 90k miles. I admittedly not very familiar with the lower control arms and ball joints, hence the ask to the forum.

As long as the joint is still tight and you’re not flinging grease everywhere you’re fine. My ‘19 with 97k has similar looking boots. I’m still getting great alignments and ride quality, so I’m sending it.

They are trying to sell unnecessary work. That LCA has another 100k miles in it without issue. The grease and small rusty spots are absolutely normal.

For context mine have 235k including some hard off-roading, and the ball joints are still tight.. though the bushings at the other end are cracking so they’ll be getting replaced soon.

What else was on this list of needed work? I’d be questioning every item at this point.

Thank you so much for the feedack. I suspected as much, but wanted to get some feedback from the experts. I know it is not helpful without context, but below is the list of the work requiring immediate attention.

Wow, I suggest finding a different dealer or an independent shop you can trust. It is VERY unlikely all those require “immediate attention” and some like the “8 cylinder tune up” are never needed, at least by that name. At the very least, look in your owners manual for factory recommended service and review your previous service records. The only thing you know is needed is the alignment, if you are getting odd tire wear.

Thank you for the feedback. To be fair, most of the fluid work is deferred maintenance since it had been checked over time, just not changed. Brakes needed some work as did the tires. I called out the 7 items at the bottom of the list as being unnecessary.

Yeah fluids are all fine to replace especially if they are original at 97k miles.

Most of the bottom 7 jobs are dealer horse****.

Yeah.
Color me skeptical.
Fuel system package. Huh?

This brings back memories working for dealership, please don't blame the techs or mechanics they get the short end of the stick on most of these jobs.
I use to make a laundry list of stuff that you really don't need because managers and writers want us to sell everything. I think I'm having a PTSD episode. :bang:
