No affiliation but did make the 3 hour trip (one way) to see and drive this 40 late last week. I decided on the purchase of another 78 40 series so am sharing this here in case there is interest. Runs very well; one of the best running 40 series I’ve driven. Appears to be very well sorted mechanically. Details are in the FB ad. The seller is meticulous! For sale: 7/1984 FJ40 LX. I have owned her for 12 years. I bought her in Australia and we brought her to America with us when we moved here in 2013. In Australia she was my daily driver, but here she has always been a second car. She always lived in South Australia, which is a very dry part of Australia and has always been garaged. When we moved to the US we moved to New Mexico, where she has also always been garaged. We moved to Florida two weeks ago, and that is where she is now: not long enough to have suffered any ill effects from the relentless humidity. She has 97,000 miles and looks stunning.
The good:
Very minimal rust. A very small amount just starting at the rear sill.

Hi guys, I put some work into this truck and updated the listing.
It's been a couple years since I got this truck back on the road, but I think it's time to pass it along since I'm buying a house and need to thin the herd a bit! Currently registered and insured in California. Pricing to sell as is at $7,500. It's a great foundation for a restoration project, but be forewarned, it has a good deal of body rust. For those of you that appreciate patina (this is the truck that started the Patina Appreciation Thread Patina Appreciation: Show Us Your Rusty Land Cruiser! ), this is one of the coolest out there – though I'm a bit biased. I’ve been monitoring the classifieds for a while but thought I’d go ahead and post a wanted ad Willing to travel but would prefer to stay somewhat close to Texas. 72 Landcruiser FJ40 for sale in Las Vegas, NV. Would be a great project vehicle for someone interested. It’s in decent shape for its age with nearly all original parts. I drive it fairly regularly on the weekends and it has the original motor and drivetrain. 4WD works fine. It has rust in the usual places: rear quarters, and underneath the front and rear doors. All electrical minus the horn and front heater works. The rear heater was removed, re-soldered, and pressure tested and is ready to be re-installed but is currently not installed. For Sale is my 1978 Land Cruiser FJ40 Project. It is located in Kansas City Mo. That being said it has rust and will need a new rear Half Tub. It's shot. The frame and front floors are in good condition with no rust holes on them. The outer rockers will need a couple small patches but not bad. The FJ runs and drives but is not road worthy. The front brake calipers will need to be rebuilt, the tires should be replaced and the truck will need a good once over before I would drive it on the highway. Includes the hard top, front and rear doors. I have a 1980 FJ40 with PS, Nipon Denso A/C, OME 2" lift, . The top and doors are currently installed, it has a very low miles rebuilt 2f engine. The rig is in great shape. It does have a couple of very small areas of rust. The paint has some dings and scratches but over all looks great. It came from CA by way of TX. This is a very solid cruiser. The body is 98% rust free. There is one spot of rust on the back under the tire mount the size of a dime and a spot on the inner post for the top. Anything else you see in the pictures is surface only. The rear ambulance doors do have rust, but I have a rust free set to go with the cruiser that are media blasted and ready to paint. All the floors, frame and other problem areas are solid...
