Hold on a second here. Let's get something straight.

First off - I'm the OP. I am not in the market to buy a FJ40 nor did I reach out to you once. You definitely have me mixed up with someone else. At $12,000 - that's a good buy. At $120,000 - as my title suggests, you gotta be high man.

Yes there are cruisers out there that fetch GOOD money. But unless you've taken the body off the frame, replaced EVERY single nut and bolt, OEM stickers and taken the TIME to do all of this you have an almost 50 year old car that's not worth anymore than $15,000. Look at @MScruiser's olive FJ40. Complete time capsule/period restoration that is as nice as an FJ40 can get and his asking price is $60k - and worth every cent of that but I'm sure someone will negotiate him down.

Nobody is hating on it because they're jealous of the cruiser. Nobody's really hating on it at all, it is a nice 40. But $120,000 for it? Man you're out of your mind.
 
Lol - I could buy a super clean fj45 longbed and fill the bed with hookers and red stripe and come out $80k ahead !!!!

Obviously what we have here is a Hollywood out of work actor thinking some Movie Exec with more money than brains will jump at this before his acne clears up and he can land a commercial bit and move out of skid row,

Who really cares? Some rich person could come along and snap that up in 2 minutes without even blinking...you never know...I believe that is the angle the seller is trying to play.

Also...think about Craigslist...almost everything I've ever sold has been lowballed, etc. Even if someone came along and thought they were 'stealing it' for half the posted amount ($60k) he would be making a sizeable profit.

Crazy for MUD, yes. Crazy for Craigslist...I've seen worse.

I think the 'rebuilt engine' devalues it by at least $40k, lol.

This cruiser would sell for less than $20k If listed on a no reserve auction on eBay, I assure you. I’ve seen nicer fj40s sell for less than $20k on no reserve. Front bumper is not even OEM, among other things. Fj40s from late 60’s are not all that strong in the market. Fj40’s from late 70s and early 80s are strong in the market. He is only wasting his time with that dreamworld price. Trying to get a sucker to bite. He’s only asking $105k too much.

$30K will get you a very nice '76-80 FJ40 with front discs, barn doors, 2F and maybe even a few upgrades.

Your answer is would you pay $30 grand for 3-spd column shift truck? We don't even know the mileage cuz the seller won't say or show key details. There's a reason for that.
 
If he's asking $120,000 and he thinks it's reasonable, take it easy on him. He must be into it for at least $110,000 and only wants to make a quick $10k.
