On the wise advice of a fellow member of this community, I'm attempting to locate someone in the community who may be interested in parting with their FJ40. My price range is $15k to $19k. To be clear, I'm not a purist, I don't care about how original it is or "rare model years", if it's USA spec or imported, etc. I want a nice looking rig that runs well. I'm not expecting a frame-off restoration at this price but I'm not looking to put lots of work into it. I'm looking for the following Must have - Good running condition - Interior in good condition - Paint newer or in good condition - 4-speed trans Prefer strongly - Power steering - Heater - Later years of production Ideally would have - Aftermarket AC - Front Disks I'm...
I've been looking for a while and thought I'd try throwing a want ad out there as I'm not finding many even remotely located near me, probably because they wouldn't last that long with our climate. If anyone has or knows someone looking to pass on their rig to a new home, let me know. Open to any model year preferably '74 - '83. Not interested in a show car but not a project. Good solid daily driver for weekends and summer. looking to spend around 10-20k. Great forum, thanks.
1977 (MIX) Land Cruiser FJ40 Soft Top
Back in 2012 I bought a Land Cruiser with intensions of redoing to a V8. A friend of mine had one years ago, and so this caught my eye next to the road. Needless to say, I should have done a little true searching of what is what when it comes to the FJ40. The PO told me that he restored one and sold it, this was his hunting rig. Body is rust free however when he redid the Cruiser the lip around the tub was cut off and metal was just welded to top squared off. The back where the doors should be is all one piece. After going the site and really looking into them I knew I didn't want to dump a lot into it because of a few issues along with tub...When my brother in law came up to do an axle rebuild for me (New Shackles, Bushings, Shocks...

Central Coast California 1971 FJ40 $5125 OBO
So, these are my pouting words from a defeated man. I just now decided after breaking my new windshield during the install, that working on this FJ40 isn’t bringing me the pleasure it once did. Despite all the work and money, it still looks like a beater and I am just to tired to see beyond that to envision a shiny rig. I just happen to be totally bummed that I broke the windshield and taking stock if I really want to see this through to a day she and I are cruising the trails in Moab or other exotic far far away world. I just happen to be having a bad day in some crappy times where we are all feeling the pinch. Truth be told this is actually a good rig that has come so far since I bought it and started the work. It just doesn’t look...
Arizona: Toyota 1965 FJ40
Greetings all. My daughter has asked me to get her 1965 FJ40 ready to sell. It belonged to her now-deceased spouse who purchased it 8 years ago with intentions of restoring. I am not new to the automotive scene, I've restored or built dozens of cars/trucks/cycles but Toyota FJ's are new to me. I've no idea what folks are looking for relative to FJ's. I know that if this were a Chevy Camaro in similar condition, WOW. The vehicle appears to be completely stock except for a Mallory ignition system. It had the original 6 cyl engine with 3-speed column shift. The vehicle spent its life in Arizona and is pretty much rust free. I've resto-modded several cars from desert states and what a joy. SO Is it more desirable to leave it stock? Can...

Kingman, Arizona 1966 FJ40
1966 FJ 40 $18,500 Original paint sold new in California, spent last twenty years in Nevada. I bought this last year thinking I could go 4 wheeling in the Mohave desert, but my cervical vertebrae say No! Chevy 350 crate motor installed in the late 1980's with factory 3 speed on the floor. P.O. thought he could pull a travel trailer. My buddy purchased it in 1989? Moved it to Cherry Creek, Nevada and used it until last year. Slight lift, non factory wheels. New (8) wheels cylinders, rebuilt master cylinder, One wire GM alternator, all fluids changed , new window fuzzies, new rear door tail gate chrome handle The only rust I see is on the passenger side top door frame ( which is replaceable)
San Diego, CA. 1974 Fj40, Classic Restomod, V8 Conversion.
Long Post. Ask is 26K. Will do my best to paint an detailed picture. Sorry if any redundancy. Written this over a few episodes. Up for sale. Honest and I believe rust free '74 FJ. Very nice truck. Paint is likely 30+ years old. No slight of hand bondo tricks. Original factory original welds still visible. Lightly modified with exception of some light mods and Chevy v8 installed some 30+ years ago. V8 could pass as original to the untrained eye. Runs, drives and stops A-1. Has second Confer gas tank added in the late 70's with electric switch gear on dash and all works well. Dressed up with a bunch of chrome bits when it was restomodded years ago to the way it looks today. Hasn't aged much as it's been mostly a garage...
