Up for sale is a 1978 BJ40 Right had Drive that i imported from Australia. My summer project's for sale, oil price is down and I need something to keep me busy. This vehicle runs and drives very nice, has around 77k, 4 speed, Bill Dorry power steering, everything replaced inside and out, correct colors, styles, and patterns. Had some rust, cut/weld new pieces, with accompanying body work as necessary. Previous owner removed smog, but she runs great and has the original carb. Interior of tub was lined, I did not replace the rear floor and inner fenders, but rather replaced the rusty areas in the interest of keeping the retail cost down. Rear sill was replaced entirely with Iron pig piece $$$. Frame was sandblasted, painted, and then coated. Reliable daily driver, pics ON REQUEST. I'll leave it here for...

Location: Memphis, TN but will drive roughly 6 hours in any direction.
Pickup Means: I will bring a trailer to take the rig home.
Use: Off road, not an extreme crawler by any means but will be used on larger rock trails and hopefully never come close to lots of mud.
Wanted condition: I will use this thing off road and have no plans on restoring the body to 100% but don't wont a rust bucket either, must have solid frame. Engine can either be a 2f or conversion but needs to be sound. Something that will get me from the trailer, through the trails, and back without falling apart or...

Unfortunately, I was just forced to resign from my job. I am looking to sell my 1978 FJ40 project that didnt even get really started.
The body is in OK shape, but has rust. I have removed most of the rust and primed, with the intention of repairing the holes. The rust is in the typical spots. Frame is in excellent shape.
Motor. The motor threw a rode, shortly before I bought it. The owner used the vehicle as his daily driver until it broke down, not even 6 months ago. I have a replacement motor that is included in the sale.
You can see the rust spots that have been worked on. Some bondo has been applied to pitted, but not rusted through areas.

I'm selling my FJ40, i've owned this rig for the last 10 yrs. Tub is clean, title is clean. Spring over, FC traction bar, flipped springs for more wheelbase, 350ci, with jet performance 650 cfm carb, shorty ceramic coated headers, flowmaster, 79 landcruiser front axle, 411's front and rear, welded in the rear, th400 tranny, shackle reversal, roll cage(not shown in pics), rocksliders, FC extending shackles, hurst shifter, procar seats(need reupholstery or covers, or just run em), exide sealed gell cell, 15x10 black steelies w/33 boggers(that have seen better days). I know i'm forgetting some things, but i'll think of them later. This rig runs great, about 30,000 on the motor if that. The tranny was entirely rebuilt about 15,000 miles...

Incredibly clean frame-off FJ40 resto. A lot of work went into this. LHD, rebuilt 2F, 3 speed. I've never seen a cleaner frame. Hand-restored in SE Asia from a military-spec trucks that was in a warehouse for most of its life. New headliner, all new roof and door seals, new hoses all round, front discs, new tires, new signals, stainless hardware etc etc. Shackle lift.

These tires only have 600 miles on them. Comes with an extra set of 8x15 chrome aftermarket wheels. Also have the original carb, extra distributor, tool kit and factory door mount mirrors. 2F engine with four speed. 3:73 rear and front disc brakes. Quarter panels were replaced about four years ago by previous owner. i replaced passenger rear door but have the original that has some rust at bottom edge.
