Mine is a '79, but some other 40s remind me of the Johnny Cash song "One Piece at a Time"

The first day I got me a fuel pump

My Vin says it was manufactured in 11/73 but it was sold as a 74. My cruiser is kind of a transition model. It has a three speed, F engine. It has the short rear seats. It has a tail gate, not ambulance doors, The vent on the hood is there for looks (not hooked up).
Kinda different from an actual 74.
 
Sold my 71 and now have completely stock 78...miss the 71.
 
We canadians got 84's as well

Don't know why you chose to combine 65-73. 4 different engines, major changes in body styles, some have birfields, some not, metal quality, etc.

2/69, but has 3/69 running gear.. maybe it was made late Feb.. Who knows... In the middle of a resto now...
 
My FJ40 is a 1969 ....

With parts from a 1972 FJ40,
86 FJ60,
88 & 89 FJ62,
19XX FZJ80 (pick a year),
and a few 1982, 85 & 94 mini-truck parts for good measure.

Titled of course as a 1970.

Sure. F135 engine through 67, I think, siamese exhaust ports. Oil bath air filter. Cannister oil filter (TP style). Single barrel carbs (the shizzle) and with windshield air vents, ball and claw axles. And the best sheet metal ever used in an FJ40. Single system brake master. Bug catcher door window vents. Transfer case shift on the dash! Column shift, Bib lights! Long bench seats.

68-70, F145 engine. Cartridge oil filters. Birfields (coarse, of course)! One then 2 barrel carbs, still some bib lights, transfer case shifter under the dash, still with split hood and chrome hood ornament. Retard dizzy.

71-73 early, F155 engine. Coarse birfields, added dual brake master. Last of the column shifts, picking up floor shifts. 72 stock roll bar and shortie rear bench seats. Solid hood.

Late 73: F and a half F155 with 2F style oiling system and domed pistons. (Woah!)

Wow, The numbers are quite different than I expected. I thought there would have had twice the number 78, 79's than 65 - 70's. I'm sure there are alot of folks that didn't contribute but its good to see there are still alot of pre-70 models running around. :D

Since 1983, I've had more 78's than anything, followed by 76's, 3-83's, and quite a few 79 and 80 models. Currently, 1980.
 
Can I vote on more than one? Mine is really a mixed bag of 40 parts from a 73, 76, tub is 76 or newer, and a bunch of misc chevy crap.

Title says 73 though.
