Was taking a different route to a part of Houston than I normally take, and what do I run across? What looks to be my old FJ40 I sold back in 2012 sitting at a gas station. Was bought by a local enthusiast but no idea if it’s under new ownership.

Talked with someone at the station that said it’s been sitting there because they can’t locate a part it needs. Based on registration sticker it was last on the road in 2022. Planning to go back and slip the guy a few bucks to connect me with the current owner. I’d like to buy her back. Last pic was just before I sold her. Yes, the bezel is upside down now!

No idea where to even start with an offer? I guess it will largely hinge upon what’s going on under the hood these days. Would the truck sitting with opposite side tires flat and suspension flexed like that over time affect the suspension leafs? I’m certain additional technical questions will be coming once I connect with the station and truck owner. More to come.

Wow, just chilling at a gas station out in the open. I see there is an anti-theft car parked behind it :p. Suspension will bounce back. Looks like it's taken on a fair amount of rust in the decade since you owned it. I wonder what took it off the road.

Good luck tracking down the owner! Keep us posted!

Kind of like running into an old girlfriend you still have a thing for

Looks like you did a nice job on the restoration although the subsequent owner severely neglected it. Such a shame. From the looks of that top it spent those 12 years outside.

Update?

Texted pics to the guy I sold it to and said “never guess what I ran across” and got a call from him shortly afterward. He still owns it.

Same deal the gas station employee told me. Working to get a part made to install fuel injection system. Taking forever to get that done, and the guy that runs the station is the twin of the “soup Nazi” from Seinfeld so you can’t push him apparently. The plan is to do a frame off on the truck once the FI is finished.
