Busy week for the 40. Put the top back on it with a new head liner from SOR. Not doing that again. Next time it gets bed liner up there.
Installed a new dash pad from cityracer. Thank you whoever you are. It looks so much nicer then the old one.
Replaced the headlights with Hella 9003 conversion bulbs and installed a painless relay kit. And added some LED aux lights wired through the high beams. Not that it gets dark up here but it might come in handy next month for hunting season.

I disassembled the steering knuckles, getting ready to rebuild them.

Next is the clean up.

Well this month, I have done the following:

Powder coated the roll cage, installed marine speakers with WFO speaker cans, custom bikini top, new overhead control panel, with a real dome light from a police crown vic, dual band radio remote head, ham radio speaker, new master craft seats, more wiring than I care to talk about, and now I am starting to install my half doors.

I am enjoying the heck of of it.

It looks great!!

You and Fred do good work!!

Been missing Fred on the job. His broken leg has severely curtailed our discussions on Newtonian physics, Euclidean Geometry and the proper making of "Cat Head" Biscuits....

Been driving the snot out of mine - averaging 150+ miles a day to/from work ...love it . Friday was interesting - since we are working on active County roads I generally just dive it into the ditch somewhere well out of the way . Picked a less than optimal spot at an intersection and dove in there , weeds didn't look too deep nor the ditch itself . Turned out , nearly an 8' drop at 1:1 slope - almost did a frontal flop but the nose weight actually helped it , never skipped a beat . The whole crew crapped themselves , figured the truck was toast but it was fine and no damage . Took a bit of work to rearrange the fog lights and dig all the dirt/weeds off the front frame though...lol .
I just wish we could get the 79 series here so I can have a newer Cruiser built at least somewhat like the old 40 , grr .

1. Changed a full-floater rear axle seal
2. Discovered cold hot chocolate where there should have been gear oil, probably due to crossing over to the Dirty Dozen campsites at Rubithon with @KT40 . The tube ended at the frame right by the bump stop, which is apparently too low for these kind of shenanigans:

3. Changed the gear oil.
4. Re-routed the rear diff breather tube through the frame, up to the front, 'T'd it in with the front diff breather tube and ran one line up to the top of the firewall. I used a cheap fuel filter as a breather and pulled an unused bracket off my air filter to clamp it in place. I think it came out pretty good, and it certainly is not getting water in it anywhere I'll be going.

I've been meaning to get to this- but what can you do for the tranny/transfer? Doesn't the tranny breather thru the shifter at the top plate?

Had a local shop build me an exhaust. Nice and quiet just like I requested. Also got my family cage powder coated. The grey is lighter than I hoped for. Oh well. Drove it to the grocery store. Been a real challenge to get this far, so it felt damn good to get behind the wheel.

Very nice work on the exhaust and beautiful cruiser!!
I noticed the rear muffler is awfully close to the rear axle if you take it off road it will most likely hit the muffler. My two cents worth.

Cleaned up and painted the steering knuckle parts.

Here's a couple of progress pics.
