Long weekend so time to continue building a 5 Fj40 truck garage with old fashioned grease pit

Looks great., I have a 75 also and have disk up front.. So I guess 75 didn't come stock with disks? I was wondering if mine was stock.
Hey, thanks for the compliments. 9/75 is when the disks started as stock for the FJ40. Check your production date on the data tag to see what month your 75 was built to see if it was stock or a PO modification.

front axle rebuilt, new calipers waiting for the pipes

Bought it a friend. 91 bone stock. The :princess: loves it and has declared it hers.

Farman33,

She will love it. Exact same thing happened to me. Never got to drive it as she claimed it as hers.

Then she gave it to our middle daughter when she bought an fj cruiser , her argument "she's got your grandson in there, don't you want her to have a good reliable vehicle? "

How do I argue Against that? Just got the 80 back this week as the daughter bought a new car. Going to make an expedition 80 out of it. It's taken 5 years but I finally got my 80 back.

Soooo happy with the new bonnet, even managed to find some windshield hooks in my parts box, just need to find the mounts and pads now.
I have some older style round turn signals and some of the original style, OEM emblems to complete the look of the front end.
Then onto the front bar and rebuild of the 8274.
Plans for the rest of the weekend: new sandblaster arrived so I can have a crack at blasting and painting the window and door hinges, already squared and properly buttoned up the front panels since this picture was taken.

Did a half hearted dejunking of my carb's float bowl... Found some bugs that found their way in there and some other little bits.

I guess it's time to buy a new air filter and finally out one on... My fuel filter is still nice and clean.

My symptoms were sputtering, hesitation, and no acceleration under load, and some death when no choke....

Was too lazy to disassemble the whole carb to do a proper cleaning but just pulling out these chunks and bugs seem to have helped/fixed it for now.

I know how you feel ! Dont be lazy, grab a new clen shop towel, pull the carb and take multiple pics as you go. it really is not scary, and once you've gone thru all the jets and emulsion tubes and passages, you'll have more confidence that you've gotten everything cleared.... and then maybe you could replace the points & condensor, too, just for good measure ! :flipoff2: LOL. That damn dizzy !

I got the 8274 back, it's mounted, wired and wound up tight!

* and yes, that is half a bike fork mount on the left. I need to source a section of tire channel and a strap, then a brace....

I also got the cover to keep it protected from the weather:

After hours of cussing and spitting and fighting for that damn last inch I finally got the transmission lined up with the pilot bearing. Very excited to get the rest of this buttoned up to see what life is like with another gear!
