I can't figure out how to grease the cable and the drivers side wiper shaft is stuck in the brass pipe.
I imagine you've removed the snap ring at the front end of the shaft that retains it. Other than that, I'd use heat and ice alternating... As well as penetrating oil. Seized shafts seem to be a very common problem. Take your time and it should submit. Once it starts to move, you're set.

I don't recall removing the cable, but it looks like it should come out once the nut and block is removed from the D/S end of the cable.

Thank you, I'll give that a shot.

Started to pull apart and clean up the Belleview 5687 that came on my parts cruiser. Despite what the p/o said nothing seems to be actually seized (so far) other than the little assembly attached to the lever that I assume controls the clutch. As soon as this was unstuck and could be released, everything was spinning smoothly.

Pulled up the floor mats in front and back and adressed some minor rust issues. I had a gallon of Rustoleum made up to match the Cruiser paint and used a small foam roller to apply it. Not worried about looks because it's going to get scratched up any way. I'm happy with the way it came out, plus I have a ton of touch up paint.

@skidplate - What are the holes in the floor, seat mounts? Also - what did you use to grommet them. Looks clean. I'm about to drop the bolt-through-floor aux tank out of my 40, so I'll have some holes to contend with until I get around to patching them.

RWB.. Thanks, yea, the holes were where the P.O. had an old Bronco seat mounted. The grommets were salvaged off of some old vehicles we were getting rid of at work. You could probably pick some up at an auto parts store. or a "pick a part" yard". You may have to "drill to fit".

Here's what I've got, sitting waiting for a Fedex from Beno. :(

Edit: Saturday delivery? Nice. Heading out there now. Had to work at my volunteer job this morning, then deal with some chores and buy the girlies a late lunch.

Drove it forn the first time since resetting the pinion angle and.... no shimmies! Problem solved! It is soooo much nicer to drive now; it's soo smooth and much quieter.
I also took my 2.5 year old daughter for her 1st ride in it. I don't know who had a bigger grin, her or me. She loved it and I loved having her riding shotgun and liking it so much.

After looking at it on my workbench I finally got by new Orion installed. I had to cut out the torque tube and make it removable, and decided to build a new skid plate. The propeller mount will shortly give way to new mount that is incorporated into the skid plate and mounts to the OEM GM tranny mount.

Where'd you get the stubby speedo cable?
