Tried to figure out why my engine is making a terrendous noise, thinking another engine pull is in the near future. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jmouc8fyhU

That sound is not internal to the motor. Something on the outside is making that sound. Alternator bearings? Starter not disengaging? Do you have an air pump for a smog system? Water pump like DSRTRDR suggested?

Remove the fan belt and very briefly run the motor, but not long enough to overheat as the water pump will not be running. While the belt is off, and motor not running, turn the belt run items by hand, feeling for rough bearings or any kind of dragging. This will help test/eliminate items run by the belt, or point towards starter problems.

I'm leaning towards the starter not disengaging from the flywheel as I've heard that sound before with starter problems.

Still boring stuff collecting parts and spraying WD40 every weekend on every not and bolt I find. Hopefully when I start the rebuild it will be easy to dismantle for the de-rust paint and rebuild.

WD40 was designed to displace water… there are much better options to free up rusty bolts.

It's not often I get to work on my own vehicles. The 40 hasn't had much use during the winter since I ditched the doors 4 years ago. Well I dug them out of the shed and blasted them. Pretty rotten on the bottom so I replaced the metal. Then I noticed this. Going to take some creative metal working to fix that.

Torch or a pin gun,, takes a while.. Cruiser metal is thick... Good luck..

That's a great trivia question: What does the 'WD' in WD40 stand for? Most people have no idea. They got it right on the 40th try.

I think your right that it's not internal but external. Did that noise seem to get louder as you went under towards the flywheel? If starter is not the issue could you have something in a bind causing the flywheel to be grinding on something? Just my $0.02 worth.

I have a thread going on it actually I'm gonna try to lube up the flywheel today as others have suggested to see if the pitch changes.

Drove her down to the Ocala National Forest and put her on the Fort Gates Ferry (Florida's oldest) which crosses the mighty St. Johns River near Welaka. She wanted a cruise for Valentine's Day but we went early to avoid the Valentine's Day rush. We were hoping to see a black bear or two, but no luck. Still a beautiful drive.

"Im New & I Dont Know What to do""
Thread. I listed the seats there.

I havent done much with it since, im just starting to make some progress. Mostly took some time to research transmission options etc... First i bought a 4 speed and afterwards i found an amazing deal on a TH350 that I couldnt refuse. I will try to update it soon.

Thank you.

same vintage ?

Nope. The tender (Too Wendy) is vintage 1910 so she has my Cruiser beat by a good 62 years. Rumor has it that the tender and barge are to be replaced in the next few years.
