Picked it up from my Mechanic who swapped tubs out and re-wired and hooked up all the engine bay parts to the new to me tub.

Couldn't find stock reflectors so I made my own. Added s/s trim rings and up-sizing to 33-10.5 BFG A/T this weekend.

It was a busy week for me as i prepare this no rust 78 for a new owner. After all of this I don't konw if I will sell- turned out really nice. New Emblems, New Hooks, New Hood bumpers, all New Door seals, new tub and roof seals and hardware, installed new CCOT seats kit, seat belts, and tuffy console after installing factory backets, new rear jump seats, new turnsignals, new dash cover, new sun visors, painted, repaint all electrical knobs, new bulbs all of dash, painted console, glove box and ash tray back to grey, new gear shifter and transfer knobs, all new door locks, new window cranks.

Still working on the body lift. Actually, though, the 1.5" lift is done and my 77 FJ40 looks very clean and plumbed. The steering is another story. I cut and fitted the shaft to double u-joints purchased from Off Road Engineering and this morning found a "drill bushing" at McMasteer Carr that is the same diameter as the shaft and will also squeeze into the steering shaft column. I will have to modify the column mounts on the fire wall and then the "lift" project should be complete by next weekend.

Top Down - Spring Turkey Hunt

I removed my soft top because it was 80+ degrees. Saturday morning, I hit the road in the dark; just me and my 40 to enjoy the 65 mile drive to do a little spring Turkey hunting.

Good times with the 40.

Also, stopped my parking brake oil seal leak by machining the speedo housing and putting in two seals. I can now remove the cardboard from the garage floor.

Finished my fuel tank and got the STT and back up lights in!:bounce::bounce2:

Installed the remote head unit for my new radio. I went with a JBL marine black box unit. Standard looking controls up in the cage, the brains in the pocket.

I also made a pocket liner tray out of some plastic stair step protectors. It takes two for coverage the way I wanted it. Not bad for $4.50.

What did you use to cover the remote HU on the roll cage?

I screwed a piece of 16ga steel to the spreaders. Makes mounting accessories much easier.

-re-did power steering box mount. just need to go get a 4 1/4 turn and get rid of my 3 1/4 turn box and its done
-installed last 4 body mounts i wasn't able to get, had to trim them a about 1/4 of an inch so they would hit the back of the rear sill
-installed freshly powder coated cage
-installed seats
-instead harness
-installed console
-installed fuel cell mount
-half doors fully finished with freshly powder coated pieces.

some ends and odds as well.

Finished my gas/water can - cooler rack. It was built for my '77 40 and a future 40 trailer. It will bolt-up to a pre '77 sheet metal style spare tire carrier. The only mod to the "old style" carrier is to remove the tire mount (6 bolts) and drill 2 holes near the bottom. The carrier also mounts to my modded tube style carrier on the right side of my 40. Still need to add tabs or loops for straps and a rear facing flood light. Paint will be OD green.

I started my 68 after 3 years or resting in the garage. It was nice to hear it rumble back to life with nothing but a jump box.
