I continued to trouble shoot the flat spot at idle (I think the break booster is the source of the vacuum leak).

I also broke, and repaired my rod linkage that connects the accelerator pedal to the torque rod. Thread for the repair.

Finally, I tightened up some bolts on my doors so they won't rattle...as much.

Installed Climate monitoring system (Digital thermometer). It was in the close out bin at Lowes for $1.24 so I could not resist.

Had to set to C in honor of the Japanese heritage

Used a bicycle tool to remove the rear heater switch, rewired what a PO had cut off, now I have a functional rear heater.

Electrical problem solved!

Replaced the battery, alternator, and voltage regulator, and THEN checked the PO wiring against the wiring diagrams (thanks for everyone's help!!) and wired everything correctly... How he got things to work with the ammeter wired 180 out, I'll never know. Figured out that I fried the new regulator when I was fixing the wiring (jackass move), and replaced the new, and now busted one with a solid state one. And it only took me a whole week to figure out! Next week, I'm sanding, and gel coating the top, putting in a headliner............

Sandblasted and painted my 76 frame. Got the 75 tub stripped for paint on the interior.

I just drove my BJ40 to see what must be the ONLY FJ25 existing in New Zealand:

FJ25NZ59a.webp

She's a 1959 model.

Wow! I am so envious of people who own these rare old FJ25s. In many respects, the 40-series is a down-graded version of this!

The thickness of the body panels is just one area of envy. (Must be at least twice as thick as mine.) And things like the heater, bump stops, spring perches etc etc all look much beefier.

Here are some other interesting features i photographed...

Firstly an extendable filler spout on the gas tank:

(I vaguely remember that the series 2A landrover diesel I used to own also had one of those.)

And look at this! A genuine Toyota pintle hook:

Heck it even had brand new genuine Toyota FJ25 winshield glass!

today i pulled the cage off, did some spot welds, fixed a patch of rust, pulled the body back off and flipped it on the rear. finished welding the rear sill in finally, re-did the welds on the wheel well and bed and then ran out of gas. have 2 patches left and weld a tiny hole up and the body work is finally done besides my half doors.

Drilled out 9 holes where PO welded up shut, And some skim coats of filler on the fresh as a daisy blasted tub, POR15'ed some other areas... Getting ready for primer...

Painted the tub and the front clip. Wired up relays for my headlights and Taurus fan. Installed the drive shaft. Next week plan to get the body parts back on then attack the wiring. I hope to get out on the trails before the snow hits.

Had my roll cage welded together at a shop (I can weld but don't trust my life to my skill yet), pulled it and painted it.

Put the fuel line spacer on the thermostat housing to keep my OEM fuel line from vibrating too much.

Observed as Mark redid my valve adjustment. Did some diagnostics on why my motor has a flat spot when coming off idle when lean despite having good vacuum.

just put the top and doors on. gonna drive it to work tomorrow

added several hundred miles and a few pinstripes.
Pretzeled an inner fender; the only new metal on the truck
(I guess 37's dont "fit")
