This really confirms that the correct color name for the 1969 is Pluto Beige.

It’s quite hard to get all alignmented, isn’t it?
Make sure all your body mounts are in the correct place to including your bib, rubber spacers one fender skirts for hood, adjust your fenders up or down, fwd and aft tilt where the four bolts mount to frame. May even need to tweak them out a bit to pull the skirts out at the rub joint in the aft and cowl position. Just depends on the condition they were in before. Take your time. Even the body could be off center a bit side to side.

Back when @Land Cruiser Junky was installing commercial plate glass, he got me some plastic wedges for a front clip alignment job I was doing for a client. They really helped with tipping the fenders out the right amount to get the aprons to align with the cowl and hood. It's been a LONG time, but IIRC, they were horseshoe shaped wedges.

Progress is ongoing...finally had a break in the weather to get the last parts of filler ready for sanding & then its damn near flat.....after 4 tubs of aluminium filler & a last tub of traditional filler... meanwhile..in l have had a notion...news.... l found an enamel paint supplier who does traditional beige for classic vehicles...if my still as yet unstripable bumper is anything to go by (4 grinding discs used so far & its sniggering at me, another 6 might do it)....if l enamel paint the outside of the tub after 2 maybe 3 coats it'll be howitzer proof & mock AR15's loudly...

Got started reassembling the doors. New felts and channel runs in. Laid down some dynamat for sound deadning. Got the exterior door handle in. I like the contrast with the black handles. The hinges are black as well. Waiting on a few other components to arrive before I can call it good. Holley LEDs arrived today. No more faded washout. Will be nice to see where I am going. Ha

Where did you get the black exterior handles? I need some new ones, and have other black trim already (hood and windshield latches, etc.).

Finally got one that says Land Cruiser on it. 72’ all original body with plenty of leaks. NA spec with hard top minus the roof . Runs great. Got the tub marker lights working, fixed left blinker auto cancel, instrument cluster lights working and got an alignment. So much fun to drive.

The weather here has been way hot and humid to be comfortable out so I had not kept up with things BUT… the last 2 days have been quite amazing with very low humidity. I took the 40 out to run a few errands pick up some gas and do some grocery shopping today and took it out on the highway to see how well she could do.

I have not been in an FJ40 doing 65 miles an hour in probably 45 years so I was a little bit apprehensive despite the feel of all of the new mods and set up that was done out at Rubber City Land Cruisers.

Out on the highway I was doing about 65 to 70 miles an hour very easily and I will swear it had at least 80 to 85 miles an hour in it but trying to capture a screenshot was difficult along with the error in my speedometer. It is probably off by 18% does not make speed realistic. Despite its top speed, my most comfortable drive is around 45/50.

Some of the photographs you guys are posting out in Montana, Colorado, Utah are just unbelievable. We don’t get to see things like that here. Regardless, it was a fantastic ride for me today..
