Today was front axle day, knew when I bought it one hub was broken. Well one hub was broken as in had a plastic cap covering the end and all the guts missing which means that the axle just floated around inside and destroyed all the splines. No...

Test fit the front end, looks way better in my eyes with the landcruiser front end. Got the wiring worked out. New fuse block fixed most and acouple grounds for the rear lights. Got the heater in and wired and defrost tubes ran. Man what a chore...

That’s a nice looking rig. I’m not that familiar with Brandi’s, so please pardon my ignorance, can you replace the bezel with a standard LC bezel? Also you might consider naming it “The Great Pumpkin”. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yesterday got a new radiator installed, all new hoses. Added a heater that came out @Ndisgyz swb. Put front fender aprons and bib with new LED headlights and split hood from a 67 fj40, will get pics today. Today's list is get defrost hoses ran...

Yeah the kick vents are there you just can't see them on the outside. But all good on the inside just skim coat the hole side and call it good. I knew the hood was garbage and didn't care as it was getting replaced with a early split hood...

Not sure who did the conversion, I passed on probably 20 of these before purchasing this one. been looking for about 3 years. Here's what I can say, it's a south American rig. Positives are.. 1 I like the look of it. 2 it started (motor sounds...

This will be a slow build and I'll post more pictures this evening of the start, but 1990 double cab converted to crew cab. OM314 with 4 spd. First will be getting it roadworthy then some upgrades then a complete tear down when it becomes it's...

I have half as many 45LVs as pigs! I’m in. Sent 2 pics

Went for a drive today, no pics - too boring 🥱 - but first drive with closed windows and the heater on - it was 25-deg F outside! Nice and toasty after the rig warmed up, and I can’t hear my tailgate rattle now 👏. Thanks @Racer65 and @Ndisgyz...

I'll take a lock with me like I said this coming week and see what I can come up with from a buddy with a fab shop. Could always go something this route as well maybe take the rubber stopper off shorten the thread to what just locks and doesn't...

Just thinking out loud on that marine sliding door lock @sofj45, it or the install wouldn’t be OEM-like for sure. If used without modifying (aka bending like you suggested) it would have to be mounted further to the side than the original(s) so...

If anyone out there wants to recreate the factory lock I will forfeit one of mine to be replicated. Don't think it would be all that hard but beyond my skills of making it look oem, I'll take one with me this next week when I head to Oregon and...
    • sofj45
@middlecalf I believe you would have to put a bend in the tab with the rubber on it as you would need to mount the hinge section lower on the frame than what that would allow by the look, the factory ones mount down below the rubber and then...

Anything other than those tincup masters on this rig isn’t an upgrade 😝. yeah, I know….
    • sofj45
@DieselFJ I'm a buyer for those master cylinders if you decide to "upgrade"

It’s yours and you can do whatever you want to it. Personally, I prefer the earlier 45’s over later models.

I rather have a solid base I can build upon versus getting something that appears to be good. Like many here I work on my cars and that makes you realize how many corners can be cut if one wanted to. I don’t mean to bash on others, and don’t want...

Earlier models are better built in my opinion and cleaner more classic lines. It's your truck build what you want cause your the one who is going to be driving it. Not a fan of square bezels and outside bump wiper motors, lift up door handles...

The edges are rounded a bit. He's made sliders before for other old US brand restos but each one is unique so it's always a crap shoot unless they're doing the whole install and can check fit, pull, redo, etc.
    • sofj45
@middlecalf did they ease the edges at all on the slider piece? To where it's not just a square cut edge to help with the smoothness of sliding. Here's some photos of the locks., Haveing trouble getting photos to load will try again or send you...

Is there any interest in a 2023 fj45 calender? If so we need to get it going as it's getting close to the new year and Christmas time is coming they make great stocking stuffers. I can get some photos from Mike from last year's calender but if...

Tranny/tcase cleaned up and new nose seal added to tranny and new gaskets to the tcase. Added gauges. Just need to plumb oil pressure and water temp. Good day of work. Next will be finish gauges and start pulling tranny/tcase.
