I drive my FJ40 5 miles each way 4 times a week! And now that the weather is nicer it's a joy to drive her!
My commute is slightly less than yours (4.2 miles) and only 3 turns. I’m usually heading to something my kids are doing after work though (baseball, softball, gymnastics, soccer, or football), so I’m usually in my 100 series.

I’m suspension, steering and something to reduce sound (headliner, better hardtop gaskets, door weatherstripping, window felts, etc) away from 30+ mile days.

My seat covers have seen better days, I believe they might just be original to the truck! I just ordered some black ones from Cruiser Corps!

Those look great - what am I missing? Your interior overall looks great.

Vacuum actuated transfer case! I still need a better/ correct rod for my lever hi/ low lever.

I first cut mine and added about 4” when I went from 3 speed to 4 speed and more recently added about 7” of 3/8th inch rod when I went to the 5.3 and 4L60e. Easy stuff.

By eye your throttle return spring looks a bit heavy. I'd hate for your carb bushings to wear out prematurely.
Interesting point.
It’s just a spring I found in the parts aisle at Lowe’s modified to fit. I actually thought it was going to be too light. I think it was a 1.3 lb spring?

Old bushing is almost toast on there, have a new one to put on but I’ll get a new and proper spring as well.

Thanks

I was able to successfully remove the stubborn old front differential fill plug. It was quite difficult. I then filled the differential with fresh fluid and installed the new drain plug. Used a bolt extractor and vice grips.

Noticed this 40 driving yesterday through my neighborhood past my street. Decided this morning to see if they were cutting through my neighborhood are if they live in it. Sure enough they live in my neighborhood. Know it’s time to introduce myself.
Invite them to our club!!

Hell I need to do the same. Where in Atlanta are you located?
Peachtree Corners, but we have guys from all over North GA. We have about 40 guys now. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Here is our Facebook page

Taking a "brake" from my technical issues to get some cosmetic work done. The hard top is covered with some kind of textured paint. I'll eventually strip it all the way down, but for today, I'll be happy to clean up the hatch door.

I counted 4 layers of paint on the door. It used to be green. On the top, it was blue...and maybe red...at least parts. :)

This was my first time using a Surface Conditioning Tool, I am a big fan now. I have a few other body panels that need to be "detextured". This tool efortlessly cuts through the old paint and leaves a beautifully ready surface without clogging the abrasive.
