Lot's of little stuff.
Installed the thermostat and o-ring. Finally filled her with real antifreeze and DI water. After all the work it was nice that it took every bit of 4 gallons.
Painted the rear bumper after drilling and tapping all the broken bolt holes. (Bumperettes on order from Toyota.)
Removed the POs hitch and installed the box hitch from @Barn find
Bent my shifter to make room for my new locking center console
Then took her out to get a feel for the upgrades. All in all a good weekend!

The idea @Aloha Jen used for her third taillight is infinitely easier. I did have an extra rear hubcap and I had trouble locating the lamps that Jen used so I felt it time to be creative. All I had located was 4” tail lamp. I looked all over the internet, Amazon, and retailers locally including Harbor Freight. Since messaging Jen … she pointed me in the right direction for the same lamp she used and it will be here tomorrow. I searched 4” and hers is a 5”.
The lamp I did have is about 4.25” so while it fit in the front hubcap cutout, I felt it could be more secure especially that Jen had it screwed in place. This grommeted one uses a lip and groove to secure itself in hole and It stays in place. Since the hubcap has a pointed shape, it acts as a centering hole for the pilot on the hole saw and kept it centered. The provided template matched the hole saw perfectly.
Oil on the cutter is a friend as is a tight grip on the hubcap, the cut is quick with the thin metal in the hubcap. I am using both of these on 2 different vehicles. One thing about visibility….there can never be enough!

The idea of a ‘third brake light’ (or center mounted stop light) is that it’s just a brake light, to get your attention. Granted, I get what you’re saying about functionality though.
This is essentially a lack of visibility….
My friend Cathy is a 76 yr old experienced rider….and this was the classic left turn in front of her approach to the intersection.
Both wrists broken, broken neck fractured ribs and some internal bleeding. She gets out of the hospital and into rehab tomorrow after 8 days

So, is anyone else running a Holley Sniper EFI and a HyperSpark Ignition? I am looking for a place to mount the CDI ignition box and I just don’t see any room … looking for a few suggestions…. My MUD friend @jhsmith suggested inside the glove box…I will use this as a last resort but would prefer the engine compartment. he has also suggested adding a standoff where the 90 degree speedometer thing is mounted and going directly over it but about 4” off the firewall or relocating the speedo thing
Very sorry to hear/see that! cage drivers are worse than ever talking and texting on their phones instead of looking the f*** where they're going. These days when I go out on the bike I stay in town just long enough to get gas and then head for the country where it's a little bit safer.
I had my MSD box mounted there and it worked out well... it was well above the waterline as well.
The speedometer box could be relocated a small amount. Or, it could be removed and replaced with a cable that reaches all the way with one cable.

Mostly wondering how people are hooking it up
So that it doesn’t blink with the rear turn signal.
Although I am on an older cruiser with simple tail lights not the newer style where brake and turn is separate from OEM.
I suppose I can just run a new wire from the brake switch output signal.

FWIW - my 3rd light is connected through a trailer harness that I installed when I built my new rear harness. However, that light is only connected into the running lights circuit as well as the brake light circuit.
I think I would apply the running light circuit as well.
Complete re-finishing the dash. Removed the aftermarket gauges and welded in some pieces to fill in the holes the PO cut. The truck was originally white, at some point it was painted green. The dash was green but someone had spray painted it black for some reason. Sanded it down and spray painted it green to match the body. Had the glove box door and ashtray powder coated. Pulled the heater and re-conditioned it. Will re-install in the fall. Don't mind the foil insulation in the new picture. Temporary, until I figure out a permanent solution to the floor radiating heat issue.

I used the space on the right of the glove box (where stock radio speaker went), under the dash to mount my relay box for my fj80 front elocker. I made it out of fallen aluminum road sign and mounted it with riv-nuts. Details and pics if you want them.

The problem with going down the heat/sound "control" rabbit hole is knowing when to pull back on the reins... Installed the heat shield on top of the exhaust under the driver's side floor; tried out a muffler wrap and applied a bit of heat/sound insulation in the toolbox area. Maybe I'll stop now. Afterall, these trucks are hot and noisy regardless.
