@imyahucklbrry Michael I did the exact same connections like Rick did, excellent, been in my rig for a couple years now!
So close to the end- all we could do this week was install bling.
New upper emblem (from the vast collection of new parts my dear friend the PO had collected), and a re-painted original bottom one.
Why didn't Toyota match the colors of the two emblems- kinda clash IMHO
Painting the top next week and then we're ready for more rain.

I put in some 2 degree shims to improve my caster. It helped. I am impressed with the better steering especially on the highway. Also swapped the original u-bolts for some new ones. Was so proud of myself I also put in a new speedo cable and my needle bounce is now gone!

I’ve bought a full set of U-bolt skid plates from SOR when I drove there about 20 years ago. I installed the rears ages ago... but the fronts are sitting on a shelf next to the castor wedges and U-bolts. Perhaps it’ll happen this summer... hopefully the Scout II box and 3.70 gears will happen at the same time to round out the project.Looks good. If you were closer, Mark, I’d consider leaving it there for a while and pick it up a different beast. Unfortunately the only nearby cruiser shop has closed its doors... guess I’ll just have to break it down into bite sized pieces and do it with the help of a couple friends and another mudder who happens to be a welder.
I have looked at those u-bolt skid plates and although I dont do any hard wheeling, I am on some pretty rocky nasty hunting roads every year. Sure wouldn't hurt to have them. If nothing else it will make my son and uncle jealous! Guess I'll add them to the list.

I guess I should have made it a full-on plug and said Mark’s Off Road U bolt skidplates.
Well, I've made a bit more progress on the Land Cruiser. The exhaust is done and I've been able to drive it around a bit. A few small issues to work out, small coolant drip, valve cover leak, but all in all, I am very pleased. The motor is STRONG! REALLY STRONG!!! Once warmed up it idles down to about 750 and is smooth as silk. It has gobs of torque. It pulls HARD right off idle to the rev limiter at 6000 and will roast the tires in every gear if that's what you want to do. Its an axle snapper. I will need to be careful with the right foot for sure.
The transmission was a little tight at first. 3rd gear particularly was a little tricky to get into. Everything has loosened up, and it shifts perfectly now. The transfer case is the quietest LC case I have ever had. It shifts perfectly, which I am happy about because I adapted/modified an Advanced Adapter twin stick kit for a SM420 (if I remember correctly) to fit the NP435 to LC case.
The roll bar is complete and powder coated. I set in the vehicle today and I just need to bolt it down. I wanted to keep it as original looking as I could. The rear down tubes/hoops will accommodate the long jump seats, as soon as I can find a set. Still looking.
I pulled the lockers out of my old axles. I was concerned about reusing them because of the fire. While the gear oil did coke, the seals on the lockers did not melt. The rear was in worse shape than the front. The fronts gear oil was still green. The rear was black. So I disassembled the lockers, thoroughly cleaned, inspected and resealed the lockers. Tossed the old third member housings and gears and installed them in my new LC housing using its gears and new bearings and seals etc.. The set up went well. New axle bearings and seals went in. I still have the front to do. It will get the same treatment. And to my surprise the brakes and wheel cylinders on the rear are brand new. Hopefully the fronts will be in the same shape.
I started on the skid plate. It is almost done. I will post pics on that another time.
And A big thanks to my friends for the help on the roll bar and exhaust. It is their skill and craftmanship you see in these pics.

Here are some pics of the axle from my old LC that burnt in the storage fire and the lockers .
Savable? We'll find out. I didn't take any pics of when I got done rebuilding them. But everything cleaned up, sealed up and looked good. Worth a shot.

Here is a before and after of the old Land Cruiser. The only thing I was able to save was the lockers.
Did you take the height difference into concideration?
I just got the steel for a complete jig to position the 6 body mounts with the correct height difference.
No. Those are only for the transportation on my trailer (on it’s edges).
Installed rear tire carrier/basket
