Got some new parts for the new engine... both are upgrades. Gear Reduction starter and 80 amp alternator for the '76 2F rebuild.
Look at the shiny thing! Curious to read why you're going with a higher amperage alternator.

Winter weather is forecast for the weekend and I didn't want to face it with the soft top on so I removed the soft top and bows yesterday in the 44 degree weather. Did I mention I do not have a garage.
Next was to mount the lifting frame to the top and get it ready for lifting .
Through trial and error I was able to find the balance point and up it went. The little winch came from Harbor Freight and will lift 400 pounds with a single line and 800 pounds with the line doubled. Smooth operating winch.
Then all I had to do was drive under the top and lower it gently into place.
Next was to mount the lifting frame to the top and get it ready for lifting .

All that was left to do was to adjust the top while still suspended then drop it into its final place.
Did I mention the winch can also help an old man with a torn up back to lift the heavy spare back into place.
But this all came with a heavy price. The shop that repaired and painted the hard top used a high strength automotive glue to hold the fiberglass top to the gutter and the whole left side has come loose. I'm sick!
That shop is now closed, the owner retired and I have to find another shop to repair the top and maybe use rivets this time.
Did I mention the winch can also help an old man with a torn up back to lift the heavy spare back into place.

WOW! a '74. That's the same as my truck. Wish my knobs/switches looked that good... Wait a second those ARE my switches.

Yes, here's the part no. and picture of them. I checked today, and the part number is still good. It appears they are used on late model Toyotas.
Note the red clamp holding the spring action closed. The hose clamps slip right over the hose and the spring-retaining clamp tugs off with needle nose pliers.

Grabbed this tailgate from a semi-local pick a part in order to continue my Frankenstein tailgate project.

Rivets are the way to go. Aluminum rivets with a fetcher and domer. Not that hard to figure out if you're able to come up with a hoist like that.

Sadly, they had a bag of rivets that I bought with the gutter from CCOT. I only found out they didn't use the rivets after they glued the fiberglass top to the rain gutter and applied the seam sealer. Hard lesson learned. In the spring I will attempt to remove the fiberglass top without damaging it and get the rivets installed.
Thanks for the compliment about the hoist. The rig which attaches to the top is somewhat like the one I made in the 70's for my first 40. I'm to old to wrestle the top by myself so anything I can use to help with the mechanical advantage is a plus.
