Well rig is up and running and ready to go to alignment shop but was just informed that carb is leaking fuel— so now have to get it rebuilt. Anyway here is the rig getting some San Diego sunshine.

In looking at my pic, I just remembered that I need to remove that dumb compass the PO put on the dash. I bought new hub caps but I like the look of the black wheels--will have to think about that one.

Looks great. What paint did you use?
i use van sickles implement paint on most stuff that i paint i like it cause its has a rust preventative and is easy to get at most farm and ranch stores and they have a hardener you can add too it i use it on stuff i build and my frame even my pontoon boat.

Van Sickle makes the EZ-Slide graphite paint I used on my 3FE's exhaust manifolds, but I haven't finished my build so don't know how it'll hold up. @Ferntucky used the same coating, and it looks like he beat me to the finish line :-).

Probably old news I don’t remember putting it up... so here goes

I can’t afford a nice 72 or a bad steering wheel and all I have found to date? Well let’s just say they are nice but some not really plug and play without some work... maybe the horn button or the covers on the spokes to the horn button(s) is/ are missing, the the middle donut is gone or the wheel is cracked and needs to be reworked to get rid of the cracks.

So I got to the pick-n-pull and found the wheel I can use... it’s ok if the horn buttons dont work because I’m running “Hadley dual air horns” from a one gallon 20007 viair pump and tank

Images follow and a question

Stock Fj40 wheel and a stock image of hilux wheel. I have both center caps but not like that Fj40 one in the stock image

So what we got is a hilux steering wheel about 1980’s I think maybe older which looks similar In my opinion to the 72 Fj40 wheel but this one is smaller diameter... the center price is hanging on my wall and it does fit the center section of wheel. I need to do steering alignment this week the old string method... index the steering wheel and then rtv the cap on

Question: the cap plastic is cracked but it’s still serviceable and doesn’t seem to be falling apart in any way.. can the cap be refurbished?

The wheel cost me 10.00 the cap was 25.00 on ebay

Are those the Coker Vintage tires that Summit sales? Stock height suspension or any lift? Looks good!

Raising that gal right..... so she’ll never grow up to be the wife that says: “I don’t know why you love that smelly, noisy, rusty, bouncy old thing so much..... and how much did you pay for that part anyway???” :grinpimp:

Here’s a little Cruiser porn for you fellas. I finally got the snorkel plumbed.

I have the original jack and jack rods for my 40 which I plan to restore. What color is the Dupli-Color?
