Option for windshield wiper nuts...
I found these at jbugs.com there for a 70-72 beetle wipers. They look and work perfect on my 73 40.

I rebuilt my t-case today. I have a question.. There was a shim behind the race on the output shaft bearing(see breakdown) when I put the shim in after I bolted everything together it was hard to turn. If I loosened the bolts on the output shaft then it would spin free again. I removed the shim and now with it all bolted together is spins nice and there is no endplay on the output shaft, so I don't think its too loose. I installed a complete kit(gaskets and all) that I got from @orangefj45 I am just wanting to know if others have had to remove the shim or not??? I did take it all apart and made sure that I had both the races seated, but, maybe I missed something... Thanks for the help.

Installed the Spare Tire Carrier.

Utilized the Stainless Pin Upgrade Pin Set offered by CityRacerLLC.com ( @Racer65 )-- an upgrade in looks and performance in my opinion.
A little compression helped get things seated.

Good Lord @TractorDoc ... you even make a tire carrier look ‘artsy’!

It's very uncommon that you end up with enough bearing preload without any shim at all. But I've had that happen a couple of times.

If you need more Tcase rebuild info ....... we produced this video about a year ago with @beno at my shop; rebuilt his H55F and split case while he was out here visiting.

Good times!!!!

Took her on her maiden voyage to the gas station. :)

She did well. What a loud ride these things are... it always surprises me just how obnoxious these things are.

Made an order for some of Rainman's Brake Lines!! rainmansbrakelines.

My 38 year old rig surely needs a new set of lines....

I mean stopping is NOT high on my list of things to do, but in this case I think I better:hillbilly::hillbilly:o_Oo_O

They finally made it in!! When I get them installed I'll post up on the fitment.

Just started a new job (hopefully my last real job) so not much time, but finished paint my air cleaner housing and today reassembled my spaghetti monster

I took Sampson out for another shake down run. The odometer finally tripped over 1k. We stopped at a scenic overlook for a photo opp. We are to of Grant mtn and I believe that is Kennamere cove we are looking down upon. The leaves haven't really started turning colors here yet. But a beautiful day for a ride through the country side just the same!

Next is cleaning and then hammertime, take the dents out and weld the PO holes shut.

Did you have the gasket installed when you checked the preload?

Yes sir I did. I haven't had a chance to get back to it since saturday, but last night I watched @orangefj45 video just in case I missed something. The only thing I didn't do yet was silicone the halves and the rear output flange. I think I am going to pull it apart tomorrow night to triple check... I want to take one last look at the bearings and races to make sure they are seated. Thanks.
