Primed, block sanded, primed, block sanded, primed....bout done with the other fenders.
Finally found this pic of the d/s fender, cut out the louvers and patched it. Didn't get any of the cutting out and patching, so it didn't happen.View attachment 1475554 I wanted to keep the louvers, but I got out voted so they went away.View attachment 1475561Pretty smooth. View attachment 1475563
Ain't no where near perfect for sure, but good enough for the gal I go with.View attachment 1475564

Correct me if I am mistaken but somewhere in your posts you claimed to hate body work? Doing some mighty fine work despite that

I do man, it takes me forever because I'm no good at it. Thank you for the kind words @imyahucklbrry .

Oh, almost forgot. Loaded up the tub, fenders, steps and hump in a friends enclosed trailer today. It will be taken to be lined Tuesday. Way behind but its getting there.

I acquiesce... after some scrubbing, it's starting to feel official!

It's in good shape, but needs a bit of love. The cast shift pieces have some tiny spots of surface rust that should be oil sanded out, and at least one of the shift rods has some wear on it. Will swap any questionable bits with parts from my 60 series cover and be good to go! Already ordered up a new 5th gear rubber boot and seals for it!

All I have been able to do sence installing the temp gauge is think of my next move to get it running normal. I came down with pneumonia and I have been out of Commission . Plus my son tells me the the landcruiser is leaking something so that is killing me I don't have the strength to even go look at it.

After getting caught in a flash downpour last week where my stock wipers barely functioned I decided it was time to repair. Rebuilding the original wiper motor yielded marginally better performance so I decided it was time to upgrade. Following this thread Wiper motor from a Volvo into a 75 FJ40 I installed a 2001 Volvo S40 wiper motor into my 78.

Install was pretty straight forward and the end result is a very strong wiper motor that can keep up with the rain. Very pleased with this upgrade.

Damn @CarDude hope you get to feeling better soon man

Thanks bud they have me on very high dose of antibiotics the same thing they use to treat anthrax. I do feel much better each day so the meds are working I just have no energy at the moment. How is your build coming along

Glad to hear. Slow man, but going.

Swapped out the old ignition cylinder for a new one - now I have TEQ keys. Five minute swap, but the little things count...

This past week I stripped the 67 body off my 78 chassis, I'd show pictures of the body if I wasn't so shocked about its condition, it came off in 3 pieces and I think the tool box under the DS front seat was the only thing holding it together. I thought I had a reasonable body with some value but am now very glad I have my Aqualu 3/4 aluminum tub in house!
I still have a long way to go as seen from the pictures I've posted, lots of repairs to the rear frame and scaling, sanding, cleaning and painting.
My plan is to have it done by August or September.

a few big changes. the stance is way better now, and will be even better when i get my new tyres. the seats are a big improvement for comfort too. the changes too the load tray roll bar make it look a lot more sleek and of course the bull bar scares even the dumbest taxi drivers out of my way ( if you've ever been to southern Africa you'll get why this is important)

biggest change of course has been this:

man what an engine!

It was on the road in April.
This year 2017, maybe I'm a wee bit optimistic, my beater astro cargo van has an inspection sticker that runs out in October and there is no way it can get another; rotted away. It's also the beauty of being retired you can work on your projects everyday, no wife, kids or grand children just me and my cruiser. So let's say no later than October 31.
