Replaced the TRE's. While doing so, I managed to get a castle nut stuck on the bolt of one of the TRE's

Practicing for retirement
Got the new rear crossmember and transmission support fabricated and temporarily installed. Getting close to putting the Orion back in.
Backed it out of the garage last weekend to make space for some work on the BJ60. Thinking it wants back in...
Also got new bib lights since my old housings were rusted. Cleaned up the original clear lenses. Not perfect but not so bad either, probably run them instead of the ambers.

Nah... a little snow won't hurt a cruiser. The salt on the road will kill them though.
Mine was under a similar pile of snow yesterday. I only wish it was on the road currently.

Added yet another Cruiser to the stable. This one's a 1978, gotta say I'm liking some of the newer amenities on this that my older ones don't have (ambulance doors for starters). Plan on putting correct front turn signals, rear taillights, fix a few things and drive it.
Got the wheel studs pressed in and the third member back on the axle housing.

I took a look under the valve cover on my '76 FJ40 for the first time since I bought the vehicle more than 15 years ago. There hasn't really been a need to look because it's always run well, and I've only put 9,000 miles on it - it now has 64,340 original miles. Just now looking into a valve adjustment, I figure it can't hurt. I bought a vintage Snap-On valve adjustment tool, a V-22, and wanted to check the size of the head on the locking nuts (they're 17mm). I ordered a couple of valve cover gaskets, one for the '76 and one for my '71 FJ40 with a '76 2F. The old gasket on the '76 is still in surprisingly good shape, so I reused it until the new one comes in. Here are some photos:
As far as I know, no work has ever been done on the engine. It does look kind of clean under there for being over 41 years old.

Unbolted the load tray and cab and mover every thing back so I can get to the back of the engine to put in new Welsh plugs. It's actually easier to do this than pull the engine out...
Will also take this opportunity to do some minor tinkering, install the insulation and carpets and make sure my engine mounts are all ok
