Cleaned up the crew, then lined them up for a family photo.

Finally dropped the rear driveshaft and looked into my nonfunctioning parking brake.
Houston, we have a problem...

Is it just my poor eyesight or are the linings completely worn down to the metal?

Installed these today inot my 45. Real elephant skin too! :hillbilly:

Years back when you still legally import elephant hides here to the States, I had a pair of elephant boots. The things were indestructible; after numerous pairs of soles, all the other bits that weren't elephant finally gave up.

Replaced all the bulbs in my combination meter again...

The trigger for this was one of the background-lighting LEDs I fitted back in 2010 had begun to blink. This fault pleased me really because it gave me enough reason to get in there again and try to choose more appropriate bulbs.

The bulbs for the background lighting had never really shone enough light on the 4 gauges below my speedo for my liking and the light they produced had been too "white" which didn't look OEM/period-correct.

So I chose to use these "card-type warm bulbs" instead for this duty this time around:

Warning: The OEM bulb-holders don't like these card-type bulbs. I had to remove and reinsert bulbs multiple times before achieving solid electrical contact. (Best to have a 12V supply on hand to test them before inserting the holder+bulb back in your combo meter.)

Worked well I reckon:

BTW- I haven't cut my hidden shields (within the combination meter) as some people do (in order to get more light shining down on the four gauges).

But I think the camera is lying somewhat in the above photo. In reality the light is more yellowy (old-school/OEM) and I don't think the brightness is sufficient to "draw my eye in an annoying way" while driving at night but I think at the same time it'll be "sufficient to enable me to read everything at a glance without having to take my eyes off the road for too long" (when I do actually choose to look at the gauges).

And the excessive brightness of my dashboard blinker lights used to annoy me even in daytime driving. (No chance of accidentally leaving them on because the blinker relay makes such a lovely audible clicking noise.) So I reduced the brightness there by choosing single-LED bulbs (of just 5 lumen brightness) instead of 4-LED bulbs:

(Warmness doesn't matter here because these bulbs, as with the high-beam bulb, shine through coloured lenses.)

Here I had the Hazard Knob pulled out and the camera caught a blink:

And for the high-beam light I chose the brightest bulb I could find because I'm forever forgetting to dip for uncoming traffic during long night-time drives:

I reckon that my blue lens must be really opaque because I have always had trouble noticing when it is lit up!

Looks a bit better with this mighty 75 lumen bulb I reckon:

Time will tell if I've satisfied my fussiness with my combo meter lighting this time around..

Where did you source the ribbed mat?

It's a CCOT product. I am very happy with it. Heavy duty. Cleans up easy..Reasonable price...

Amazing what you can do with an entire, uninterrupted day!

The seats and new tuffy console installed. Seems to be high quality.

Dash is now complete.

Cigarette lighter and cb connection on the back. I went round and round trying to decide where to hide these. I think this will be out of the way and handy at the same time.

Borrowed the idea for these outdoor speakers from another member. Sounds nice to me and I installed them with some Velcro for now.

Inexpensive Bluetooth stereo. What a neat spot to hide a radio.

Thanks for all the great ideas!

Looking good.
Got me a radio in the same spot, in the same box.
