Wow, 4 pages of posts just for last weekend... I dig it!

My turn, I finally got to use my LX rather than wrench on it. We made it up to Bald Mountain in the Sierra National Forest above Shaver Lake in California. There is an old fire look out tower there. It was our first family camping trip. It was a AWESOME weekend.

Installed a Switch Doctor Master Window switch. Fixed my issues!

Also tore off a rear bump stop last night. Took a hard bump, but I didn't think that hard...... Looks like it had been loose for a while.... gotta call Dan!

Had to cut off the spring holder for the spare tire. No way that thing was going to come out just by the traditional method. Now on the search for a whole new spare tire holding unit.

What problems did you have with the tent?

The ladder was ripped of it's mounts and damaged the board on the same side as the ladder. They replaced the board, replaced with a new ladder, and replaced the top cover. Awesome guys! Too bad the showroom was still closed for renovations....

Here's the lake I camped near, Courtright Reservoir.

We were at the Bald Mountain tower about 24 hours before @GWNugget.

Nice weekend for wheeling, but my brake booster slowly failed over the trip, and I had no power assist by the time we got home.

Sorry.

Lubany is a 24 year old female mechanic from Yaroslav, Russia. She either belongs to or hosts a Series 80 forum there and just found this forum (I imagine it was because someone hotlinked that YouTube video in response to my post. She tells of how they don't have many aftermarket parts there, so they end up using parts from Russian military vehicles, or even just scrap lying around to mod their Series 80s, most of which fails on the trail.

GAZ 66 is the older Russian military vehicle, and the idea of modding parts from GAZ to Series 80 LC IS pretty darned interesting and creative, provided they have a limited supply chain.

I'll save everyone else the hassle...

"You lost me at '24 year old female mechanic from Russia'." Pics or it didn't happen!

Now, resume with the "What did you do with your 80..." Discussion. Thanks.

No boost down "Four Lanes"? Did you drop it into second and let the motor do the braking?

NICE!
Yeah Don, Good to here you made it home safely, that is the important thing. Nice to see the red machine via pics here... Missed you on the mountain top... I called you most of Sunday on channel 10. Timing is everything. There will be another day I say.

Wow, this brings back memories of the late seventies -- the last time that I was at Courtright!

It was intermittent, so not as scary as it sounds.
NICE!

Surprisingly I know about the Gaz 4x4's.
I find it very interesting how she posted in russian (not a typo) on this forum. I'm trying hard to imagine how they would react if someone would bust in on one of their forums posting in a foreign language.

On a side note.
Andre what exactly are you doing talking to young russian girls?

One of my favorite stories from Afghanistan is when no one would let me enter a roundabout during rush hour, while driving my Series 76. I had a bad jaw infection, it was late at night and I was pissed off, so I intentionally hit a GAZ truck's rear wheel T-bone style, which caused the front bumper to make this huge "Whang" sound. The traffic in my way fled from in front of me, as they figured anyone crazy enough to hit a GAZ would do just about anything.

No damage to my Series 76, and it was an effective way to get across the traffic circle..

Found another great use for the LX. My 13 year old doing plyos on the end gate. Gate is at just over 35". The driveway slopes down just slightly so figure about 36" where he's jumping from. Pretty impressive, but I'm a biased dad. :)
