New charcoal canister, rewired all the Warn solenoids, and modified a cobra CB mic to push out another 40db or so. I'm going to run the controls to a toggle in the cab next weekend. I'll get rid of the bird's nest under the dash too.

Dented .250 wall tube Slider kickout, and cracked two fender flares.

Got muddy. Wrecked my PS factory step. Lost my PS front bumper cap (for good this time). Toasted the front license plate.

It looks as though you had as much fun as I did.

Got frustrated and hit it with a hammer, got after it with an angle grinder, then hit it with a hammer some more.

Fat-fingered on my iPhone using IH8MUD

My 80 had been sitting for a couple months, waiting for me to get the time to replace the birf that grenaded. I ordered used birf's from cruiserparts.net with updated drive flanges. I ordered a knuckle rebuild kit from cruiseroutfitters.com with new trunnion and wheel bearings. I also purchased new rotors, inner and outer axle snap rings, and misc. bolts for body panels.

I pulled everything (with the help of Romer's Front Axle Rebuild FAQ thread, printed out in its entirety) on the first day. On the second day, I put all of the brake cleaner cans to use, and let the hubs, spindles, and outer knuckle soak in diesel. On the third day, I sprayed the drive plates with high-temp paint.

I used a wire brush to take the outer knuckle pieces down to bare metal, then masked and sprayed them as well.

On the final day, I got everything re-installed. I also gave the 80 a bath, reattached all of the missing mudflaps, and bumper covers, reattached the front bumper, and gave it some delicate re-shaping blows with a 10lb sledge hammer.

Looking on to further projects for the summer, I'm hoping to replace the exhaust, tie-rod ends, front shocks, and deal with some irritating electrical issues. This marks my first major self-repair on the Cruiser, and I can't thank MUD enough for providing the tutorials and technical info, as well as the confidence to undertake the seemingly daunting task of a birf replacement / knuckle rebuild.

Went wheeling with a great group of folks in Sturbridge, MA. First time, definitely a lot of fun. Broke a rear fender.

Hmmm, I try not to go anywhere in my 80 cause it costs $1 every 4kms I drive. I did however go out bush with it to our mates housewarming/bday bash and yelled at a guy who was an a****** all night. (it costs us $35 just to do that.. And thats on LPG!) Althopugh I like having the 8-0 becasue it can take us anywhere and I can do all the maint myself withgout jacking it off the ground. I just don't feel safe under those things. Especially working by myself.

of course you don't work under a jack.....that's what jack stands are for.
