Fixed the rear arch seal, front crank seal, oil pump cover seal, new battery, new P/S hoses (and clamps), flushed radiator, and degreased the underside of the vehicle. I can say the vehicle is leak free at 237,000 miles.

Pulled some coworkers vehicles out of the mud after a rain storm made the parking lot a mud pit. Fun stuff.

Failed at rebuilding the rear axle due to seized cone washers/studs.

What? You eliminated the automatic underbody corrosion protection system??

:bang:

Haha @ tarbe.

It sprung a leak on my last trip out to Salton Sea. Lost about 2 quarts of oil on the way there and back. Finally killed a weekend and fixed all the leak. There's a very slow and I mean slow leak coming from the transmission somewhere. Maybe a drop or two over a week and a half sitting there. I killed 6 cans of engine degreaser all on the underside from the radiator to the rear bumper. The whole underside was covered in oil. Big thanks to my 3000psi pressure washer hooked up to my hot water heater and Cdan. She's spick and span clean the underside.

Also she's getting some new shoes on Wednesday (BFG KM2 - 285/75/16). Still awaiting my 4x4Labs rear bumper.

Finally painted the grille and all related "grey" bits on the front. They were quite pitted. I wanted to keep the chrome bits, but black-out the grille itself.

1. Pulled all the lights, grille and removed the trim
2. Hit the OEM painted parts with "O" steel wool, chrome parts with "0000" steel wool
3. Cleaned with SEM wax remover
4. Taped off with blue-tape, the longest part of the whole exercise
5. Two coats of primer
6. Sand with 600 between coats
7. Two coats of Semi-Gloss Black, "0000" between coats
8. Let dry in the sun
9. Bolt on
10 Beer and BBQ time

Steve

:wrench:Replaced Elsie's intermittent aftermarket starter with a second hand 2.2kw one out of an LX450 for $75 and about 50 minutes. I had to light the BBQ grill before I tightened the last bolt.

Replaced all the power steering hoses.
Put new brushes into the 130A Tundra alternator.
Installed photoman bracket & 130A alt. - still need to do the alternator to battery wiring.
Installed modded blue hub fan clutch & new belts.

Went out to a place called 5 Mile Canyon in Utah, this place has old mine shafts back from the late 1800's.

What a blast!

Those Kelly Safari tires look really good man, I want them after my KM2s. How do you like them?

i blacked out my grill. going all black is not very original but what else you going to do with a black truck.

tried diagnosing my P0401 error code...
-replaced the VSV
-cleaned sensor for EGR
-cleaned the EGR valve (carb cleaner soak)
-checked hoses for obvious signs of blockage or wear
-checked vacuum modular for obvious signs of malfunction
-ordered new EGR valve....

nothing visibly wrong with the valve...just hoping its the answer...what a pain! and I dont even need to pass emissions!

Open the cap off the modulator (green or blue). Pull out the filter. See any carbon or even a "black dot" on the bottom of the filter? If so, it's toast. Replace modulator.

This carbon, if present, can travel down the system and also clog/ruin the EGR VSV.

Edit: Oh yeah, Welcome to Mud :flipoff2:

Thanks! Glad to be here!

So, if theres any carbon in the filter you would replace the vacuum modulator?
Even if the modulator seems to be fully functioning otherwise?

Yes. Carbon should really only come from the bottom of the modulator THROUGH THE DIAPHRAGM and up to the filter. This is enough to disable the system and cause the PO401!

many thanks, I may cancel my order for the valve and just get a new modulator. Could even save me a few bucks in the end!
