What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (51 Viewers)

Was looking at Method's website and they say those wheels do not fit the LC. Did you have to massage the center bore of the wheel to get it to fit? It is listed at 106.25 other wheels that Method say fit are 108.

I’ve got spacers. 1.25” I think I got 0 offset so that was on me. I bought them through custom offsets and it said they would fit, they’re just slightly hitting the flange. I’ve heard of people having them machined out. I might do that sooner or later

I kind of like these, the finish is not glossy looks more of a matte finish.

These are $271 ea in 17x8.5 0 offset.

But for $150 I really can't complain. Either might look good on the 80 since I plan on raptor lining it in white.

I bought these plugs after deleting my abs system. They are freaking cool. Getting the sensors off of the axles really cleaned up the wiring under my rig. Thanks Trail Tailor. Also, the Tourflex springs you sold me are taking a freaking beating and even under load they ride very well. YEAHHHHH

I am new to the 80 series forum, been over with the 70 series. Just purchased a HDJ81. I drove it home last night and was going to go camping next weekend and probably put on about 1000 miles over the following week. Last night I started changing all fluids. The front diff fluid was off color, contaminated with grease I presume. There is a little bit of saturation on the knuckle arm but no dripping onto wheel or anything. I presume this is because the axle seal isn't great because the vehicle has sat with little miles put onto it for a couple years. I will check the breather hose though.

So the question is, I am wondering if it would be reasonable to

1) Use the terrain tamer spindle axle tool to get grease back in the spindle and knuckle to the correct level, check that the breather is clear, and put fresh fluid in the front differential, use the truck for the trip, putting on about 1000 miles, then tackle a full tear down and rebuild of the knuckle, seals, bearings ect.

OR

2) Use a different truck for the trip, I would be causing excess wear and damage by continuing onward without fully addressing the issue.

Front axle service is often deferred by people who don't know any better for many years and rarely results in failure. I think you're fine to top it off, clean it up and put 1000 miles on it.

I'd be more concerned about general familiarity with the truck as it's brand new to you, but some people like to live dangerously

If you are concerned….piece of mind is everything. If it were me, I would use a different truck or at least inspect the knuckles. I have an HDJ81 as well and the knuckles will need to be done eventually. Diff oil with an off color is most likely the seals. Any leakage around the “ball” back side of the knuckle?

No real leakage. The grease appears normal on ball. Just that small amount of saturation on the arm but it isn't wet. Picture attached.

Ok, doesn’t look too bad. Maybe keep an eye on it. Mine, I am starting to see small globs of grease at the very bottom, nothing dripping or more fluid like. Yours look similar to mine.

I'm glad I noticed this guy chillin before I drove off with him on the tire.

I managed to get some audio of the two bulls that were arguing right outside my tent all night. It doesn't get much better than falling asleep listening to elk in September.

Started pulling off the dust cover, planning on using the terrain tamer spindle grease gun when I ran into this. Right under the dust cover. I'm sure it's aftermarket, but anyone know if this is for greasing the wheel bearings or goes all the way into the spindle? I haven't seen or heard of this but once again coming from the 70 series world.
