That's the valet key.
Dan, is the valet key limited in it's access? All I have ever had is a valet key for my truck, but it works in all doors and ignition.

Don't think it will unlock the glovebox....

That was really a one off project. With the price of metal, among other things, the prospect of this happening anywhere outside our local market is slim.

Evening Mud :flipoff2:

The head gasket job / inspection / preventive maintenance/ and upgrading is coming along.

I can't think of anything else I can tear apart, inspect, repair or replace.

Reassembly should hopefully begin this weekend. I'm really not looking forward to cleaning that upper oil pan, boy is it a mess......

I'm glad I followed my gut and continued to tear down deeper. The timing chain guide was a mess think I dodged a bullet on this one.

The main bearings look amazing almost new! Was this motor rebuilt sometime by the PO, I know he didn't do the work but I'm going to try to find out more.

Thanks @NLXTACY for making ordering parts easy and your expert input. You are much appreciated sir!

Those Wits End boxes are better than therapy :hillbilly:

That's a 14mm flex plate bolts for the 14mm socket trick. I won't be doing that again and I ordered the @OTRAMM @CPACruiser correct pulley holder to do it right from now on.

I will never understand shipping times.

ORder parts from partsouq. They arrive in 7-10 days. Everytime.

Order parts from Canada. 298 miles from my house. 2 weeks from now is when they're expected.

Now, this isn't a vendor poke. They don't control this. Its a poke at certain shipping companies

I discovered my CDL wasn't working this weekend. Diff fuse looked fine and relay clicked but no noise from the actuator so I decided to pull it. I popped open the motor cap and the telltale acrid odor of magic smoke wafted out. Armature and windings were toast! Gear box spins freely but something stalled the motor and it must have gotten really hot. Found some slaggy chunks, solder balls, and loose windings. It had a good run!

I bit the bullet and got a new actuator assembly from Partsouq.

This thread was very helpful: CDL Actuator Fun - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/cdl-actuator-fun.68015/
