I’ve got a 4x4Labs rear bumper with a tire carrier on one of the swing outs. I mounted it in the center of the tire. Metal bracket affixed with double stick tape and held in place by the tire.
Story time.
Save your wheel. Buy three real lug nuts before the mounting holes are ruined.

I definitely recommend this approach. I have snapped one of those bolts both times I did this job, and that was WITH the inch pound torque wrench. Finger tight plus a 1/2 should be just right.
Just installed the mandatory ARB bumper! My truck is slowly veering away from stock 
. Also replaced all of the brake hoses. Gonna install a Warn 8k for now. Still have lots more to do but she's super fun to take out!

Added a cheap exterior/interior digital thermometer I found on Amazon.
It was designed for a later Toyota switch and still working on making it fit the 80 series style switch cutout, but it provides the temp with reasonable accuracy,
