Went playing in the snow...

I finally finished my atv ramp roofrack and clamped it on.
It started life as a yutrax tx108 which I modified by cutting out some bars over the sunroof and narrowing it a little so it would fit between the mule gutter towers. A friend had a broken tundra bedcover and the aluminum supports in it became the black top rails of the rack. I also welded on some Nissan uilititrack rails for front and rear tie down points. I have the Nissan cleats that fit the rails and also made some tie down loops with eye bolts and unistrut nuts and washers. Then I modified the mule towers so they could be adjusted lower to the roof. The factory rack was removed but the roof ribs are still there. The atv ramp rack sits about 1/2” above them.

It weighs about 68lbs without the tie downs installed but with the single row lightbar.

I should have just bought a Bowfin rack. I take too long to make stuff.

Replaced the tie rod ends with some 555s that the previous owner had purchased.
Discovered that a knuckle stud has been sheared off, and is broken inside of the knuckle (not the arms on the underside :( )

Anyone have tips for getting that stud out of a blind hole? Start drilling?
Going to source a 2 1/8" socket tomorrow to start taking apart the front knuckle on that side.

@Dusten I'm still in the "ownership in doubt" circle of hell with Wa dmv. I've spent more in mods and maintenance (prior to seats) than i paid for the rig, and can finally apply for title next week after 3 years. I'm still trying to figure out which office to write to regarding changing that bit of red tape. It has something to do with allowing previous owners to contest or something. In what world would you wait 3 years to rectify someone else getting ahold of a vehicle you own/owned?

Oh, the 80 series... I've brushed snow off of it a couple of times.

Kill the previous owner?

I would still need a "release of interest" forum prior to the "cleaning." In my case, the title was transferred once within the household (from husband to wife or some such), and the seller gave me the old one. To me, a generous length of time to sort these issues out would be 18 months. 3 years is complete BS.

Sorry for the eye rolls and sighs in advance boys, I'm a triple checker.

Want to knock out the fluids tomorrow to start baselining and make sure I have everything I need the first time. After searching the forums and manual does the following look correct?

Fluids:
Engine Coolant: Ethylene-glycol antifreeze
T Case: 1.4 QT - SAE 75W-90 GL4/5
Trans: 1.7(?) QT - ATF DEXRON II/III
Diffs: Front no lock 2.5 + Rear no lock 2.9 QT - 80W-90
Power Steering: ATF DEX II/III
Brake: SAE J1703/FMVSS No. 116 DOT 3

Lube:
Wheel Bearing: Lithium base wheel bearing grease, NLGI No. 2
Steering knuckles: Molybdenum-disulfide lithium base chassis grease, NLGI No. 2
Propeller shafts: Lithium base wheel bearing grease, NLGI No. 2

First time doing any of this so I'll be relying on the forum and YT a lot lol. Thanks in advance.

Coolant is Toyota red unless you're going to completely flush it.

Manual trans? Because if it's an automatic It's more like 5.5 quarts.

Gotcha, it's auto. I'll look for that Toyota Red tomorrow. Planned on flushing just to start what I can fresh and have the feel goods about it.

I am all for red coolant, but with these old rigs the best thing to do is stick with what you already have.

In other words, if your rig has red coolant than stick with red. But if somebody has already switched to green than you might as well stick to green.

That's fair. I just assumed it was already red.
