Donuts in a parking lot. It'll drift big ole circles with the center diff locked.

On thursday I snuck into the garage before the Christmas festivities began so I could get my front end back together. Front diff reinstalled with a fresh set of 4.88's. Replaced the inner axle seals since I was in there (the old ones weren't leaking but, oh well). New knuckle felts/wipers etc. Repacked all the bearings. The bearings all looked good except for one outer wheel bearing so that one got replaced. Nitro chromo axles/birfs.

1997 back together. Took a month to install the refreshed lower mileage engine, transmission, plus new exhaust and hook up everything. Removed engine had 315k the "new" one with 180k. Before installation I had the head redone and replaced gaskets, seals, etc. while it easy to do so. Also added a ARB and 10k Warn winch plus new Cooper MTs. Have been doing some local drives the past couple of days to check for leaks (none), and adjustment needs. Much improved but still an old truck.

Thanks, been debating both. The only plus for Recaros is the JDM cool factor and they do have heated and cooled options. But comfort takes priority. Did you use the extended sliders?
Go sheelmann all day I have only bought the driver xxl so far and honestly probable will never buy a passenger. Toby was great to deal with and you can go sit in the seats at his office by the pdx airport. $2300 is a tough pill to swallow but like said already I can drive for hours with no regrets. They also come with seat heaters already installed.

Passed the only DOT required inspection today!
Probably the happiest person in the state that their DMV inspection went well :D
Going to DMV tomorrow to get real plates
The process to title a jdm rig in Washington is neat. So neat I've had my rig a month and still have no plates at all

Really? I've had mine for a month bought in WA and retitled in Oregon. I still don't have plates either because the DMV is a nightmare, supposedly they are coming, but based on records it look like it took the dealer I bought it from in WA maybe 2 months or less to title it after it arrived in the USA.

That being said, OR has a moratorium on traffic stops for expired plates/tags/trip permits during Covid. WA have anything similar?

Rigs looking great nice bumper!!! Did you ever find a nice collectors edition for your brother in law? We got about 8” at the house in forest grove OR.
Thanks for the bumper! Some lowlife at work decided to unlatch the tire carrier and stuck gum underneath the safety pin. When I took a corner the spare tire/Hi Lift arm swung out. Only damage was a bent ball stud mount for the strut. Slee had the part for me in a couple days.

Brother decided he wants a 62 instead.😄

To the second part, no idea.

Washington requires me to get it appraised at a dealer and submit the paperwork in order for them to assess taxes.

I bought mine already titled and private party.

But first I had to wait for the title from the kid I bought it from. That took a few weeks. Then it was in the shop getting a new trans, that was another week. Now it's the holidays. So it'll be next year before anything happens.

They have waived the dol's fines for being late with doing the paperwork

They have to appraise it separately? Not what you paid for it on a Bill of Sale?

That sounds like excessive taxation. Should only be taxable on what you paid for it.

Well, I think it's worth a million dollars if I have to insure or sell it, but only $1 if I'm going to title it.

More driving and looking for cat tracks in the fresh snow.

Excessive taxation? Sounds like you're familiar with WA State! With no income tax here the government finds any way they can to increase other taxes.

Private party bills of sale don't mean a lot here when it comes to value. The state will assess the greater of book value or what you paid and tax that number. If you have an unusual vehicle, you have to get it appraised. It's one of the reasons I made sure I titled my LX as soon as I bought it for $500 with a knocking engine and a moldy interior. Really hard to argue it wasn't scrap back then.

Picked up my 96 FZJ80 with only 95k miles last weekend. Had someone mention the forum, glad to be a part of it now 😀 I look forward to updating the build after baselining.

Welcome!

Put on your big girl panties, get out your thick skin, and we'll all be glad to help after we've berated you just enough.

Then you'll figure out we actually do help, then you'll ignore us. Just like our wives.

Nice looking truck with only 95K on it! I'm sure it's in those foreign number units though.
