@jht3 I think you have a number of options, including sourcing the OE caps that came with the running board equipped trucks and that mount to the bottom of the flare and cover the front of the slider to some extent.

Read this thread for a nice overview of options/ideas including flaps from other trucks, modifying factory flaps, etc. You'll have to figure out the best balance of cosmetic refinement and functionality for your uses.

Keep in mind that front mud flaps are a liability in many off-road situations and make your flares vulnerable to damage. High and tight will help reduce the risk of a flap bump knocking your flare loose. For that reason I plan to use the OE pieces that came with the running board equipped 80s though I'll likely trim a little off the bottom to reduce how much is sticking down below the protection of the step sliders. Hopefully my cuts will look ok, but my main constraint is keeping debris from the front tire off of the top of the slider as much as possible while also not needing to worry about a small bump damaging the flares.

thanks for the link. i've searched and read and read but haven't seen either in person. Bump-it and White Knuckle are my top slider pics. the WKOR can be had both shorter and flatter to accommodate the mud flaps and act more as step. so i'm torn which way to go.

it seems that to protect the flares, the flaps do have to be removed before wheeling. and the same might be true for the front caps too? i haven't seen any pics of clean cuts to the caps, but i like that idea if you can pull it off.

We replaced our old rooftop tent with a new one, and lucky for me I've got a buddy who owns a huge heated warehouse and a forklift. So much easier to wrangle hardware and rack cross bars with mechanical advantage, rather than wrestling all the weight alone in my exposed driveway.

Bonus: the forklift's a Toyota, too!View attachment 2866772

How did he back out of that lift and deposit the RTT on your truck?

Couple weeks ago:

Had to remove part of a tree hanging over the neighbor's fence before it comes down involuntarily into her yard. She does Daycare, so wouldn't want to end up injuring kiddos......

I had to prove to my wife that I'm not a complete idiot. I still didn't convince her, but I impressed our oldest son who didn't think the math was going to work to drop the limbs and NOT crush the fence.

I saved $1000 doing this part myself. Also enjoyed it because I was outside AND I got to use the winch for something other than decoration and Mall Flexing.

I REALLY like the look (and price) of these BIO sliders. Alas, the website says '95-'97 only. Mine's a '94. Showing my n00b side here, but why is that do you think? Cat in a different location? Saving up for sliders now, but will likely go with White Knuckle because of this BIO limitation.

@Rdeschain Yeah it at least has to do with the difference in the cat configuration and the protection for the cats that is in place on these but there may be other differences as well. It wouldn't hurt to reach out and ask Mike at Bump It Off Road what the differences are or how hard they may be to adapt/etc. I assume if adapting the sliders were easy then they would be sold for the earlier years as well in a different version but that's speculation on my part as it wasn't a topic I had to explore.

Drove it 900 miles yesterday, pretty hard through the mountains on I40 in NC only to discover what appears to be a decent rear main leak. $30 part, 9 hrs labor. Yay

Call Mike. He does custom work and might have done one-offs for 93-94 customers. Worth a call at least.
