Had some failure to engage the starter recently. Ordered a maybe 2.2kW from Rock Auto (they claim its a Nippon-Denso rebuilt by AC Delco). In the meanwhile discovered by newly done battery connection was a bit loose 
. Onto the shelf-of-spares with it for now.
Can anyone confirm it to be the 2.2 vs 2.0 kW?

Definitely not a 2.2kw.
2.2kw was only fitted to cold-spec 1993 model year vehicles.

Well, since I am currently Cruiserless, I got to wrench on a buddies 1994 FZJ80. It's been in their family since new and now their 18 year old son drives it. Lucky kid, right?
Anyway, I've never really seen it up close, but he was telling me the "hubs inside the wheels are coated with goo." I gave them few recommendations to get some parts and he came over this morning to get started. He ordered a full rebuild kit from MarlinCrawler and also brought along new front rotors and brake pads all around. He also picked up the requisite grease, brake cleaner, rags and

Like I said, this is the first time I've seen this rig up close. It has a bit over 300,000 miles on it. The body is decent but the fender flares were removed at some point. There was some minor front end damage from a fender bender and the replacement bumper is laying at home in his garage. The hood paint is peeling pretty bad. The interior looked decent with seat covers installed. Then I saw the magic switch, factory locked! He told me when he tries to lock it, the lights just flash, but about a year ago, they were working fine. I told him to save that for the next wrenching day.
Anyway, by 10 AM we had it on the lift with the tires off and tore into it.
Complete front axle service with all new bearings. New front rotors. Brake pads all the way around. Then a quick oil change and it was time.
By 7 PM he was backing out of my garage and headed home. A good day I would say.
I'm gonna do some factory E-locker research for next time. We will also pull a vacuum on the AC and see why it's not cooling.

What is the main benefit of the 2.2kw starter? I see a lot of people on the hunt for them.
Can I make my reservation now for the guest suite? That way.....whenever your house is done..... I’m first on the list!
More torque and better cold weather performance.

Now that he’s a near-neighbor I’m gonna have to look into his stuff.
The 2.2kw only benefits some people depending on their geography. Here is the math I learned during my recent starter replacement:
Bikinis + sunshine = 1.4kw
Ski parka + avalanches = 2.2kw
2.2kw starter requires more amperage is some isolated cases it could be the difference of being able to start with low battery. 1.4 works for me making not applicable to live or travel anywhere where it cold.
