Great looking Heeler, nice coloring. Makes me miss mine more than I already do.

Thanks we have had two 6-7 years apart for the last 25 years and dont see anything changing going forward.
Both love the beach and the ball

Had to park my 80 outside in the cold so my son's truck could stay in the warm garage for paint to dry. Phase1 of paint is done with first base coat complete.

What color scheme did you settle on?

^^^ That looks like fun. Is that a full-on Monkey Fist? How do you tie it?

It doesn't completely solve the problem, but it makes it far more convenient. More likely to go on the next trip. And the next one.

Please tell me that that's dirt where the seat attaches to the bumper, and not um..., blow back.

This is why the seat is camouflage. What happens behind the Cruiser, stays...Well, you know the rest.

Awaiting a new roof rack to arrive, went ahead and pulled the port-installed roof rack. Spent a fair bit of time reading up on the best procedure and was prepared to need to drill out the rivnuts and so on. Sprayed a drop of penetrating oil and thought I'd check the bolts just to see how bad they were. All 8 came lose with just a touch! Unfortunately, the plastic feet rubbed quite the groove into the steel, but was relieved to see that there wasn't much rust. I mean, those are some pretty clean bolts, no?

New hardware installed: M5 stainless bolts, 20mm in length, with a dab of grease to prevent further rusting of the nuts and a rubber washer. Sealed the whole assembly with some automotive silicone. Going to cover everything with some plasti-dip to prevent further rust.

I've been neglecting this thread for a long time. Really haven't done much.. the rig hasn't needed it.

But today I drove to Houston to pick this up: (excuse the bad pic.. I was trying to get it unloaded before the storm moved in)

That is a GM L92
All-aluminum 6.2L out of an 08 escalade. 403HP, 417tq on premium. Also the 6-speed auto that came with it.

Realistically it'll take me a couple months to get this done.. but GOOD BYE hey-thats-a-gust-of-headwind-my-transmission-needs-to-unlock-the-TC-and-shift-down-into-third-while-we're-at-it

Suffice it to say it was a Wits'End weekend. As always, thanks @NLXTACY

First it was one of Joey's lockboxes.

IMG_6826.JPG

Then it was Joey's seat riser.

IMG_6832.JPG

Riser was added to make more room for......

Wits End FEM w/lid. (Just need to save pennies for the SafeCraft FE... because, well, I'm a special snowflake and it looks awesome)

IMG_6834.JPG

I'll add details of the riser install and any other pertinent info in my build thread at some point. It's more for my knowledge and as a reminder that I'm actually learning things through this process. (Still a 1.5 banana guy)

Right! Couldn't be happier and prouder :D

After I got off work I waited around for the FedEx guy to come by. Didn't hear them knock but I discovered the coils on my porch around 6:30 and had my 850/860 coils on before the wife got off work.

It was pretty darn easy aside from laying in cold mud for a few hours after all this weather we've had.

I fell in love with the rig again and my wife said she wants another 80 series now.

That's quick work.... in the mud even. I love the "getRdone" attitude. You are destined for greatness. Have you started a build thread yet?

Dye'd my steering wheel cover to match the steering wheel. The wheel cover was a light tan. It was always getting dirty and seemed to stick out.

Here the only before shot I could find, but you get the idea and realize why it makes my car drive better.

Looks nice. I should do something like that...
Thanks. Just couldn't justify the $$$ to have the wheel replace/recovered right now.

SEM coat Monterey Is a dead match in the Oak interior.
