Got it rebuilt at 260k miles. It was running good but had to top off oil at about every 1500 miles.

This is over the last few weekends, finished the 4x4labs rear kit and added 1.25" wheel spacers.

I think some 5.29's are on the horizon as the next mod.

Just ordered this from the land of down under... Gonna be mated to an H151F. Cant wait for this to arrive.. Coming with correct ECU for the 105 series with a manual transmission and complete wire harness.

Can I ask how much that is, to get it state side? Also, is it still a 4.5 with the newer head? What's HP? Very cool!

This 3rd gen 1FZ-FE engine comes stock with 240HP and 300lb-ft torque vs a US Spec 1FZ-FE 212hp and 275ft-lb torque.

This one came from a 03/2000 FZJ105.

Was looking on my laptop for a picture for my daughter's show choir and came across this. Definitely a top 5 GOAT post on Mud. Shout out to @zona. Classic!

That's the one - and no - didn't remote mount the compressor - left an open channel back there for air circ - will see how it holds up next week!
Cool. Let us know how it works out and how you like it. Please tag me.

Ugh this generation head is so much nicer than our 1FZ head! I wish I would have just bit the bullet and ordered one before I wasted hours and hours porting a new US market head.

Scott, I know what you mean. Still debating on this build whether to leave as is with the new engine and 5 speed or do Forced Injection.

A quote from Wikipedia. For those that have never seen the 3rd gen 1FZ-FE

The 1FZ-F produced 190 horsepower (140 kW) at 4400 RPM and 268 pound-feet (363 N·m) at 2800 RPM; its fuel injected counterpart produced 212 horsepower (158 kW) at 4600 RPM and 275 pound-feet (373 N·m) at 3200 RPM.

Starting in 1998, the fuel injected version of the 1FZ-FE was also manufactured with a direct ignition variation available in certain non-US markets (the engine pictured here is that variant discernible by the intake manifold and lack of distributor). This version of the engine received many updates over the previous version such as a redesigned head, more compact pistons, updated throttle body, an improved intake manifold with longer intake runners, 4 nozzle fuel injectors to improve fuel atomization and direct ignition. This version of the 1FZ-FE produced 240 horsepower (180 kW) at 4600 RPM and 300 pound-feet (410 N·m) at 3600 RPM on 91 Octane Fuel (RON) without a catalytic converter.
