From pics I found online, these are the length of the sensor body in MM. I suppose you could measure from the mounting boss to the tach wheel and get a rough idea.
Either way, you're agonizing over 1/2 MM.
Well i was working on my truck today, and almost snapped off that plastic bypass nipple coming out of my radiator! This is a known problem that i have been meaning to make some type of protective guard for, but like most things i have been...
My LX450 is our road trip vehicle along with being our only wheeler. We tend to take extended road trips when we have the time off. Anywhere between 4K and 7K miles, and I'm planning on the Rubithon24 with some folks from Gotham.
I have 2 full...
Assuming you're working on a FZJ80?
Make sure of course that the groove for the gasket is completely clean, no left over bits of the old gasket stuck in there. Adding a small dab of FIPG in the groove at the corners before installing the gasket...
Honestly, I prefer driving EVs. They just drive better. I have a lot of seat time under my belt, racing in SCCA and NASA and driving all sorts of cars at track events and auto-x etc. EVs just drive better. If you get the chance you should try to...
The entire brake system should stay 100% OEM IMO. Don't fall prey to marketing. The 100 Series pads do nothing to improve brake performance. It is a fallacy. Brake fluid should be water clear. The darker it gets, the more contaminated it is...
@DirtyPepper , what you describe is classic "brake fade". You were riding the brakes down a hill, they got hot, you lost braking power. You boiled the moisture out of the brake fluid. Even with brand new fluid you can get this problem if the...
From the 1994 Toyota FSM which you can download from the resources section. You'll notice that the spec for oil pressure has a large window. I also would not go by the dash gauge as they are notoriously inaccurate. Dump that WIX POS filter ASAP.
"At the last change the mechanic used a Valvoline 10w-30 synthetic blend because given the age he felt it would do better on a blend."
@BTLSHP :
Did you have the oil changed shortly before the episode where the engine stumbled at the light...
It’s not difficult, lock diff by selecting low, pull diff fuse for safety.
Lower tranny as much as you can and go at it.
That instruction means nothing if it wasn’t done if someone else effed it up!
If you forget to lock it it still comes...
I know this is going to sound purist, but stop using O'Reilly starters.
My LC "spits out" aftermarket parts.
I would switch to a Toyota reman starter. Yes, it's more money, but it will last longer.
I'll admit, I got 3 years out of my O'Reilly...
Thanks much. I’m back in business! Never thought to check the fuses with a meter. Will know going forward though. Your recommendation was a great help and saved me a lot of time. Thanks again.
One other thing to check, with the hubs/bearings removed from the spindle
check the spindle closely for wear, specifically the OD of the spindle.
What often happens with loose wheel bearings is the outer bearing will rock and spin (the inner...
It's the rearmost sensor that you want. The forward sensor is primarily connected to the A/C system, although it's connected through the ECM.
You can verify this by tracing the wire colors.
FWIW, this is from my annotated copy of the 1995 EWD.
First thing that jumps out at me, you only replaced 1 of the 7 soft lines on the truck. 4 for the calipers, 2 drops to the front axle, 1 drop to the rear axle. If 1 needed to be replaced, all of them need to be replaced.
I have never had an issue...
For clarification, the starter is grounded through the case to the transmission adapter. There is no separate ground for the starter. The 2 connections are +12 from the battery and solenoid logic from the ignition switch.
When a Cruiser fails to crank when the key is turned, most people look to the starter first.
There is a reason for that.
(Dollars to doughnuts you need new starter solenoid contacts. Easy fix.)
